The Heart of Europe, Dubai World Islands is a $5 billion mega-project planned as a permanent tourist staycation. Featuring 6 themed islands, this grand resort spans 6 million sq. ft. Hence, it will accommodate over 16,000 tourists upon completion. The project is being developed in three phases with one already through. It is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.
Destination themed islands are the best parts of this location featuring Main Europe, The Floating Venice, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and St. Petersburg. Each reef portrays Europe’s culture and ambience. Moreover, to deliver the right sense, resorts and stores will only accept Euro as the currency. Some islands will also feature artificial rain and outdoor snow to present a perfect holiday experience.
Nakheel Properties sold parts of The World Islands to investors before 2008. That’s when Joseph Kleindienst started working on Heart of Europe, Dubai. The cluster of beach resorts became a joint venture between Dubai-based JK Properties and Chinese contracting companies. As a result, the six islands are home to hotels, plazas, climate controlled streets and beachfront resorts for families, newlyweds, events, destination weddings and beach parties. Roughly, the project will have 14 hotel resorts and 2,000 villas. It is already one of the top off-plan villa projects as per Dubai Annual Sale Market Report 2020 by Bayut and Dubizzle.

4km off Dubai’s main coast, The Heart of Europe is a part of Nakheel’s master development, The World Islands (simply, The World) which is an archipelago of 300 islets. Comprising 7 sets of islands, it represents the world’s continents, Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, Oceania and Antarctica.
The Heart of Europe isn’t just one of the residential islands in Dubai. It is a cluster of hotel apartments, villas, and beach resorts to serve as a unique, luxurious holiday destination. Here, families and couples can experience European heritage and hospitality within Dubai. However, the location is away from the mainland and built on the Arabian Gulf. So, those hoping for a tranquil holiday on an island by the beach can stay at The Heart of Europe.
Following are some factors behind the community’s growing popularity:
Besides these, the climate-controlled streets and plaza attract guests.
The secured complex spans across 6 million sq. ft. of land featuring underwater homes and luxury resorts. Kleindienst aims to target second home buyers from the UAE and other nations of the Gulf Cooperation Council. So the plan includes more than 4,000 holiday homes and over 13 hotels and resorts. Currently, finished properties in Heart of Europe are available for sale which include hotel apartments, residential apartments and private beach view villas.
The first phase includes:
While most of the villas are found in St. Petersburg, a few are present on the neighbouring islands.
Europe is the biggest island inspired by Rome, Vienna and Andalusia. The region primarily includes leisure activities like clubs, boutiques, cafés and hotels driving elements from Italy, France, Switzerland, Spain and other areas of the continent. Whereas, residential properties in the area majorly include apartments for sale.
Spanning 457 sq. ft. to 840 sq. ft., properties are ideal for individuals and couples alike. Here, the price of studio flats starts from AED 990k while that of a 1 bedroom apartment ranges from AED 1.75M to AED 2.2M. Last, 1-bedroom hotel apartments are available for AED 2.3M approximately.
As the name suggests, properties in this section follow Swedish design and architecture. This is the first island introduced with ten 4-storey palaces. These are luxurious 7-bedroom waterfront homes that redefine beach living thanks to the excellent resort facilities. Also, some units are designed by Bentley Home. Here, each unit features an infinity pool and an elevator. The ground floor has a cinema, gym and sauna while on the rooftop, you find a glass-roofed nightclub. All in all, the estimated value of properties will be AED 50 billion.
This place is all about lagoon living. The horseshoe-shaped island will feature 32 villas with direct access to beaches. Moreover, the area will be home to hotels and nurseries. There will be 15, 5-bedroom and 17, 6-bedroom villas and each will feature a private pool and terrace. Handovers are expected at an estimated value of AED 50 billion.
The extraordinary Switzerland Island will thrill those looking for great snowy outdoors and relaxing holidays. The area will have a green mountain with a spa and more than 100 luxury residences. Moreover, the plan includes the establishment of finished 2 to 6-bedroom chalets. Tourists will enjoy pool parties at the ice cave swimming pool with a bar. Again, the value of properties is expected to be AED 49 billion.
Referred to as Honeymoon Island for its unique heart-shaped map, St. Petersburg Island will be home to 131 Floating Seahorse Villas, some of which are already completed. A standard 2-bedroom villa for sale spans across 4,000 sq. ft. The island will also create a 200,000 sq. m. coral nursery. The price of Floating Seahorse Villas starts from AED 9.45M.
This project is basically the world’s first underwater vessel resort. With an aim to promote underwater tourism, this resort is split into four decks with one of them built below sea-level. Moreover, the island will have 414 luxurious cabin suites inspired by Venice’s architectural design.
The archipelago spans 6 million sq. ft. with a capacity to house 16,000 tourists at a time. Once completed, all the islets will be connected via bridges. Modes of transportation in The Heart of Europe, Dubai will be boats, seaplanes and helicopters. As the developer aims for a self-sustained and green community, traditional fuel vehicles will not be allowed on the islands. Therefore, the place is ideal for those wishing for a pure island holiday. To commute from the mainland, residents use speedboats.
The master project aims to provide a complete holiday destination in Dubai. The plan features climate controlled streets, artificial rain, man-made mountains and many unique facilities inspired by the 7 continents of the world. Each island has beachfront villas, hotels and resorts with a plethora of entertainment activities and amenities. No matter which island or property you choose, you will have options for relaxing, dining, shopping and hanging out with your loved ones. Also, guests will benefit from unlimited sessions at the spas and salons and health clubs in the resorts.
Furthermore, the project aims to create a sustainable environment like most of the new and innovative developments in Dubai. It will incorporate green features such as solar power panels and elimination of traditional transport.
World Islands is approximately 9 km wide and 7 km in length. The development is 4.5 km away from Dubai’s coast. This means, a 20-minute peaceful boat ride from central Dubai. Currently, all you would see around the area is the Arabian Gulf.
While the development aims to have around fourteen 5-star, 6-star and 7-star hotels and resorts, there are only two of them completed;
Portofino Hotel is a 5-star deluxe hotel that also hosts many events throughout the year. Among these, water ballet shows and movie screenings are most loved. It is a family only hotel built in Main Europe featuring 489 Queen and Princess Suites.
On the other hand, Cote d’ Azur is a beach resort with 7 duplex penthouses, 113 hotel suites and 872 apartments. When completed, guests will enjoy watersports, snorkelling and pearl diving experiences. Finally, the projects that are currently under development are specially named after the countries or landmarks from where the inspiration is driven. These include:
As of now, the restaurants in The Heart of Europe are those set up in the hotels. Whereas, others will be launched as soon as the project reaches completion. Portofino Hotel has restaurants and European cafes that serve classic Mediterranean cuisine. Similarly, Cote d’ Azur also features six Mediterranean-themed restaurants and beach cafes. Here, guests will enjoy champagne at the piano bar – Absinthe Lounge.
Those who want to enjoy a summer beach holiday can visit beaches in The Heart of Europe, Dubai. Beaches are the most important feature of this wonderland. Ideally, each villa has access to private beaches and the resorts also have sea-facing terraces and windows.
The island is a landmark location home to a classic selection of hotels and leisure facilities and one of the top new attractions in Dubai. The Main Europe island is usually taken as the hub of all events and activities. Besides luxury hotels, the development will have white sandy beaches, boutiques, and shopping centres. The most attractive feature is the climate control system that produces artificial snow falling down on the cobbled streets and palaces.
Also, a cable car will be introduced to travel from Dubai to Main Europe Island.
All the six islands have a calendar of annual events and celebrations. Especially, the main island hosts circus festivals, Oktoberfest and crayfish parties. Those who enjoy fireworks and light shows can catch up with the daily night show.
Moreover, Swedish events such as Midsummer, National Day, Saint Lucia and St. Martin’s Day are celebrated in Sweden Island. The area will also celebrate Swedish film, music and art industry. Last, a range of traditional eateries and shopping opportunities will be a plus for staying in The Heart of Europe Dubai.
Those willing to socialise and get updates for activities can follow Facebook page and community group, The Heart of Europe.
Heart of Europe, Dubai World Islands is 4.5 km away from the coastline with no transport at the moment.
