Al Mizhar

The community of Al Mizhar is considered to be one of the southernmost regions of Dubai, located close to Sharjah. This is fairly a large community that has been divided into two sub-communities, Al Mizhar 1 and Al Mizhar 2.

One of the most defining features is that it is located right next to Mushrif Park which is considered to be one of the largest parks in Dubai. Those looking to live in the area will find that properties in the community mainly consist of villas for rental or investment purposes

Mizhar is an Arabic word which means ‘blossom’. The community has over the years seen a rise in popularity. The privacy and large size of the villas paired with low rental rates are key factors. The community mostly consists of villas that come in 3, 4 and 5-bedroom configurations. This suburb within Dubai is perfect for large families due to the size of the homes in Al Mizhar. Overall, the community has a family-friendly vibe due to its proximity to parks, malls and schools.

There is a huge selection of villas for rent in Al Mizhar. The houses range from 3 to 5-bedroom units. Accordingly, the floor space for these houses can range between 7,000 sq. ft. to 15,000 sq. ft.

Al Mizhar Dubai is divided into two sub-communities; Al Mizhar 1 and Al Mizhar 2. Take a look at the most popular community before renting or buying a residential unit in the neighbourhood.

Unlike most of Dubai where there are underlying issues with parking spaces, residents do not find it difficult finding a viable parking spot in this community. Each villa offers ample parking space for one or two vehicles.

On the other hand, if you rely on public transportation there is a handful of bus stops around the borders of the neighbourhood. The nearest metro stations are located in a 13 to 15-minute drive away. These include Etisalat metro station, Rashidiya metro station and Al Qusais metro station. Thus, it is recommended that you have your vehicle to get around.

There are two major supermarkets in Al Mizhar. You can find a branch of Lulu Hypermarket in Arabian Centre and a Union Cooperative Hypermarket in Etihad Mall. The nearby areas of Mirdif, Al Warqa’a, Al Khawaneej and Oud Al Muteena have many other smaller supermarkets to visit. There is even a branch of an Organic Foods and Cafe in the neighbouring area of Mirdif.

There are no churches in the neighbourhood. However, you don’t need to go far to visit one. Most churches in Dubai are concentrated in the community of Oud Metha. The travel time between the two districts is roughly 22-minutes to reach any of these churches. For those belonging to the Hindu faith, there are several Hindu temples on Al Fahidi Street, right in front of the Dubai Museum. You will find the Shiva and Krishna Temples located there, about a 25-minute drive away.

For Muslims, there are around several mosques around the community. The most popular mosque out of all of them is the Ahli Mosque. It is quite large and is popular for Friday prayers. Other mosques in Al Mizhar include Al Farooq Mosque, Taibah Mosque, Sheikh Latifa Mosque and more.

There are many schools in Al Mizhar and most of them are concentrated in Al Mizhar 1. One of the best schools in the community is GEMS Royal Dubai School, it offers the British curriculum from pre-primary to Year 6. This primary school has been given the rating of outstanding by the KHDA. They are the governmental body who reviews and rates private schools in Dubai. The school follows a philosophy that each student is unique in their ability to learn and absorb information. Thus, for every child, a unique approach should be used to prepare them for the real world.

Other British options in the area include Arab Unity School and GEMS Founders School. Parents looking to enrol their children in American schools have many choices. Al Mizhar American Academy, Mirdif American School and Al Mawakeb School are a few of the options. Parents will find the selection of schools in the neighbourhood to be more than adequate.

Two university hubs are located close to Mizhar Dubai. There is Dubai International Academic City located close to Dubai Silicon Oasis and University City Sharjah. Both are 25 minutes away and house reputable internationally recognized institutes.

The community has one clinic which is the Prime Medical Centre. It specialises in cardiology, paediatrics, dentistry and family medicine. The closest hospital would be Dubai Medical University Hospital. It is located in Muhaisnah, which is under 10 minutes away.

Al Mizhar is surrounded by many areas. To its north is the community of Oud Al Muteena and Al Khawaneej is towards the west. Muhaisnah makes up the eastern border while Mushrif Park can be found directly south.

The prime location of Al Mizhar makes it easy to reach the residential community of Mirdif, Al Twar and the emirate of Sharjah.

As Al Mizhar is an older part of Dubai there are quite a few amenities and attractions nearby. In fact, in the nearby vicinity of Garhoud, just 19 minutes away, there are several bars and lounges you can visit on the weekends. The nearby communities of Mirdif and Al Warqaa have much to offer as well.

There are three malls in Al Mizhar alone. There is Ethihad Mall, Arabian Centre and Al Mizhar Mall. Al Mizhar Mall and Etihad Mall are smaller community malls. They have a few retail stores and a handful of food and beverage options. Arabian Centre, the largest and most popular mall of the three is a complete shopping, dining and entertainment destination. It has a hypermarket, hundreds of retail stores and tons of dining options. In terms of entertainment, there is a cinema, indoor amusement park and small ice rink. Apart from shopping, dining and entertainment, there are also several branches of banks located in the mall as well as a few governmental offices. City Centre Mirdif is one of the malls located near the community. Whether you are looking for high-end fashion brands or beauty products, there are all types of shops in Mirdif City Centre. These include Debenhams, Marks & Spencers, Aldo, Sephora, Lego and much more.

Apart from the fast food and casual dining establishments in the shopping malls, there are limited restaurants in Al Mizhar. Popular restaurants include Gazebo, a North Indian restaurant known for its extensive menu. Freejna Restaurant also serves Indian food but in a more laidback setting, it is known for its fusion offerings. Al Farsi Restaurant is a popular Persian eatery in Al Mizhar.

To visit licensed venues one would have to travel to Al Garhoud, just 19 minutes away. Here you will find Soho Bar and Grill, Irish Village, Nomad Lounge and many other options.

Although the beach won’t be in your backyard, it will be close by. You can reach most beaches at roughly 30-minutes. A few of the beaches near Al Mizhar include Jumeirah Beach, Kite Beach and Al Mamzar Beach. All these options provide breathtaking views, fitness amenities and restaurants overlooking the beach.

There are plenty of places for leisure activities near Al Mizhar. For instance, you can play a round of golf in one of the finest golf courses in the city, Dubai Creek Golf Club, just 26 minutes away from Al Mizhar. Another area for leisure activities is the Sharjah Shooting and Golf Club, which is just 20 minutes away.

One of the best locations to enjoy the outdoors are parks, and luckily, Mizhar is a community that is right next to one of the largest parks in Dubai, Mushrif Park. What makes this park unique amongst others is that it has a large public swimming pool, shaded green areas and even offers horse and camel rides. For children, there are swings, slides, monkey bars, wall-climbing area and other fun outdoor activities. Other activities in Mushrif Park for visitors include a buggy ride through the park. It is a great park to have a picnic with friends or family members.

For residents who desire to stay physically fit, they could get a membership in one of the many gyms in the community. Some of the closest gyms in Al Mizhar are Fitness 360, which is 6 minutes away and Rise Fitness Boutique, which is 13 minutes away. There’s also a Gold’s Gym in Etihad Mall which is 10 minutes away.  In addition to these residents could also look at the gyms in Mirdif, which is one of the communities near Mizhar.

There are a variety of spas and salons to choose from in the community. For men, the closest spa is Urban Look Gents Salon. For women, there’s Casa Bonita Beauty Salon & Spa which is just in front of Mushrif Park.

One important thing to keep in mind is that there are no apartments for rent in Al Mizhar. This community mostly caters to families who are looking to live in large villas. Even though the community is a considerable distance away from central Dubai, one can easily get around if they have their vehicle. On the other hand, there is limited access to public transportation.

Apart from these factors, you’ll find that you’ll have to sacrifice little to nothing in terms of enjoying a high standard of living in this community. This locality has all the amenities and is close to several places of interest and venues for entertainment and fitness.
