Academic Calendar for GEMS Legacy School

As per the GEMS Legacy School academic calendar, the new academic year starts in April.

  • The first term starts in the first week of April and ends in the first week of July. A 2-month summer break follows this term.
  • The second term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. This is followed by a 2-week winter holiday.
  • The third term starts in the first week of January and ends in the third week of March, followed by a 2-week spring vacation.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to GEMS Legacy School?

GEMS Legacy School admission policy is inclusive. Children belonging to different backgrounds are welcome to apply for admission. Parents need to ensure that transport, class records, first aid information and admission forms are complete. You will also have to submit the below-listed documents, both copies and original:

  • Two copies of the child’s passport, including a valid visa
  • The candidate’s six recent passport-size photographs
  • Two copies of the candidate’s birth certificate, either in English or Arabic
  • One copy of the Emirates ID of the child and Sponsor (Father / Mother)
  • Photocopy of the original mark sheet of the last examination passed in the previous school.

Students who will join GEMS Legacy School Al Garhoud from Grade 2 onwards will have to produce a Transfer Certificate or School Leaving Certificate as mentioned below:

  • From a school within Dubai, no attestation is required
  • From emirates other than Dubai, an attestation from the Educational Zone of that emirate.

For students transferring from other GCC countries, the Transfer Certificate will have to be attested by:

  • The Ministry of Education of that country
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • The UAE Consulate

Students from countries outside of the GCC are required to get their Transfer Certificate attested by:

  • The District Education Officer
  • The Ministry of Foreign /External Affairs (Country of Origin)

School Transportation at GEMS Legacy School

GEMS Legacy School UAE transportation is managed by the School Transport Services LLC (STS). The company has a strong reputation when it comes to safe commuting.

STS follows the rules and regulations laid out by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. Smart buses are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS), video surveillance, and scanners to verify students’ attendance and safety.

  • Bus drivers working for STS are trained and qualified to provide a safe commute for children. They also work closely with the school administration for greater service.
  • Once you submit the Transport Request Form, a representative of STS will confirm whether the bus routes are available for your area and will update you about the transport fees, schedule, driver’s contact information and timings.
  • The transport fee is charged for ten months only and can be paid at the start of each term.
  • Parents are required to pay AED 50 if they discontinue transport service for any reason other than the discontinuation at the end of the academic year.

Holiday Camps at GEMS Legacy School

GLS in Garhoud offers both summer and winter camps to its students. These holiday camps are designed to continue the learning process for children through creative activities. While summer camps last for a month, winter camps are arranged for one week in December/January.
