Academic Calendar for Star Private School

The Ministry of Education (MOE) approved academic year starts in the last week of August and ends in the last week of June. There are three terms in an academic year of Star Private School.

  • The first term starts in the last week of August and ends in the second week of December. Students go on a winter break that begins in the third week of December and ends in the last week of December.
  • The second term starts in the first week of January and ends in the fourth week of March. There are two options for spring breaks. The first option is from the last week of March to the second week of April and the second option is from the last week of March to the first week of April.
  • The third term starts right after the spring break and ends in the last week of June.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to Star Private School?

To enrol at Star Private School Sharjah, parents must first view the school’s admission guidelines:

  • Children for Kindergarten 1 should be four years old by December 31.
  • Students are granted admission for Kindergarten 1 onwards based on English and Math assessment tests.
  • After registration, parents must complete the formalities and pay the registration fees within 15 days.

During Star Private School Sharjah admission, parents have to submit the following documents:

  • Two photocopies of the birth certificate in English or Arabic
  • Two photocopies of a valid passport and a valid residence visa of child and father (the passport and visa should be valid till December or at least two months from the date of submission, whichever is later.)
  • Copy of Emirates ID card
  • Five recent passport size photographs of the child
  • Medical/Immunization record
  • Family card (for UAE nationals only)
  • The previous school’s attested original report card (if applicable)
  • Original transfer certificate/school leaving certificate required for students coming from schools outside UAE, Those coming from schools in UAE may give continuation certificate at the time of registration.

Applicants for KG2 to Grade 8 must provide a transfer certificate (TC). The TC must fulfil the following guidelines:

  • TC should be in English or Arabic.
  • TC must clearly state which grade a student was promoted to at the end of the year (if enrolling mid-year) or in which grade the student is currently enrolled (if enrolling mid-year).
  • Transfer certificates must contain stamps from the following authorities (depending on the location of the previous school):
    • North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand:
      • School stamp and signature
    • Middle East (except for the UAE), South and Central America, Asia, former Russian States, Eastern Europe and Africa:
      • School stamp and signature.
      • Ministry of Education (in the country of the school’s location)
      • Ministry of Foreign Affairs (in the country of the school’s location)
      • UAE embassy in the country of the school’s location. (In case the UAE Embassy doesn’t exist there, the stamp of any Arabic Embassy will do).
    • Other Emirates of the UAE:
      • School stamp and signature (TC/LC must be in Arabic)
      • Ministry of Education of the Emirate
      • Continuation letter from the previous school showing the class of study (for registration only)

Parents can visit the school for admissions and admissions-related queries from 08:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Fee Structure

Star Private School fees can be paid in three or eight instalments throughout the academic year. Fee payment rules are as follows:

  • At the time of admission, two/eight checks are payable in January and March.
  • The September instalment will incur additional uniform and books charges for which only cash will be accepted.
  • Fees are expected to be paid by the 10th of the respective month. Cheques for the remaining months should be dated for the 10th of that month.
  • Those who wish to pay cash instead of cheques are expected to give a guarantee cheque. They can then pay the entire amount in three instalments (contact the school for more details pertaining to guarantee cheques).
  • Dishonoured cheques are expected to be settled within a month. Failure to do so will result in a temporary suspension.
  • Tuition and transportation fees are expected to be paid in full, regardless of the number of days the student attends the school.
  • Parents must retain the fee payment receipt as proof of payment.
  • Students will not be allowed to attend classes until the first instalment is paid.

School Transportation at Star Private School

SPS has contracted a third party to provide transportation services to the students. Those opting for school transportation must adhere to the regulations laid down by SPS. These include:

  • Once availed, the service will be valid for one school year.
  • If the family relocates in the middle of the academic year, the school does not bear the responsibility to provide the service to the new location.
  • Students have to abide by the timings provided by the school.
  • Students are expected to maintain discipline while using the transportation facility.
  • Students must wear I.D cards to be allowed into the bus.
  • To discontinue the service, parents must inform the administration officer.
