Spanish School of Abu Dhabi established in September 2020 is a recent addition to the list of non-English international schools in Abu Dhabi that currently caters to Nursery to Grade 6 students and offers classes in a co-educational setup.

Spanish School of Abu Dhabi (SSAD) currently has ten native Spanish teachers who are masters of their respective fields. There are specialist teachers for the Arabic curriculum and the English Language. Teaching assistants are also employed for Nursery, KG1 and KG2. The school follows the Spanish curriculum and aims to strengthen the strong cultural relations between Spain and the United Arab Emirates.

The new-established, modern Spanish School Abu Dhabi campus has 43 classrooms with interactive boards. WiFi is readily available throughout the school. Other premium features include a large auditorium and excellent sports resources. Spanish School of Abu Dhabi Curriculum

Spanish School of Abu Dhabi implements the Spanish National Curriculum from Nursery until Grade 6. This program helps young students master Spanish speaking, reading, comprehension and writing.

The curriculum is revised regularly to ensure that it is up to date with new research and teaching approaches that match international standards.

During Early Years, teaching is centred towards play and learning. Physical, emotional, motor, social and cognitive skills are developed during this phase. Reading, writing, and numeric concepts are taught using a combination of traditional and thematic approaches. English Language program is blended weekly at all levels, and non-Spanish speaking children can directly enter the Preschool Immersion Programme.

Academic excellence is the prime focus during the Early Years. It is achieved through a fun-filled learning environment. Assessment during this phase includes identification of the lessons learned and level of development achieved.

The Primary School Spanish curriculum builds on the Early Years’ program taught to students. It is enriched with the English program and Arabic studies to boost imagination and motivation. Critical and creative thinking skills in children are also developed during the primary phase.

Students of Grade 1 and Grade 2 can join the Spanish Immersion Program. Spanish teachers teach a small group of students to ensure that all participants get the needed linguistic support.

Academic Calendar for Spanish School of Abu Dhabi

The academic calendar of the Spanish School of Abu Dhabi runs for 10 months and is divided into two terms.

30th August is the first day of school and marks the start of Term 1. Winter break lasts from 13th to 31st December. School reopens for Term 2 on 3rd January. Students go on spring break from 28th March to 8th April. School resumes from 11th April. 30th June is the last of the academic year.

ADMISSION AND FEES

How to Apply to Spanish School of Abu Dhabi?

The Spanish School Abu Dhabi admission process is simple. Those interested in applying to SSAD can fill the application form available on the school website. Admission is only granted to students who meet the following requirements.

  • Complete registration forms along with complete documents
  • Down payment of tuition fee
  • Successful candidates who pass the assessment of Spanish and Mathematics

Spanish School also has age criteria for admission as mentioned below:

Once the application is successfully submitted online, the school invites parents to submit mandatory documents. After submitting the application form along with documents, the school’s admission team reviews the application and parents will receive the school’s decision via email.

  • Picture, date of birth and passport number
  • Visa showing length of stay in the UAE
  • Date of issue and expiration of the passport

Applicants who are still unfamiliar with the Spanish language can also apply for admission as the school offers an extensive Spanish Language Immersion Program.

Please note that SSAD does not enrol students who only want to learn the Spanish language. Students who complete SLIP (Spanish Language Immersion Program) and want to pursue a full academic program with credits or earn an SSAD diploma will be considered for admission.
