Inaugurated in 2017, Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz (LFJM) is named after the French aviator, explorer and adventurer – Jean Mermoz.
Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz is the first school to open in his name in the Middle East. Jean Mermoz schools are recognised worldwide for their quality education. This school is another entry in Dubai’s already competitive educational sector that has excellent French curriculum schools.
LFJM School opened in Al Quoz, a popular community in the emirate offering a mix of residential and commercial properties.
Following the French curriculum, Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz Al Quoz offers classes from kindergarten until college (Pre-KG – Grade 8). However, the school plans to add secondary years every new academic year. The average age of students enrolled in the school ranges from 3 to 11 years old.
As per the school’s website, there are four classes each year, and the maximum number of students in each class is 26. The student body includes kids from 45 different nationalities and is served by 36 teachers. The majority of students are French.

Jean Mermoz French High School is ideally located in the heart of Dubai. LFJM enjoys proximity to popular communities like:
The nearest neighbourhood is the bustling financial district in the city – Business Bay. The community attracts tenants and investors because of its modern residential and commercial buildings. The area is close to some of the best shopping and entertainment venues in the city.

Nevertheless, special attention has been given to sports facilities on the campus. The school aims to cultivate healthy habits in primary students. So, there is a multi-purpose sports hall, a playground, a synthetic turf pitch, a 25-metre swimming pool and a full-sized football pitch outdoors.
Furthermore, there’s a school clinic available on site. Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz’s uniform can be purchased from Stitches Uniforms LLC.

The curriculum is focused on three aspects of students’ learning experience:
The learning process at the kindergarten level is imperative for the success of elementary school learning. At this stage, little ones are provided with the freedom and facilities to engage their mental and emotional capacity. It supports young students’ curiosity to learn and skill development through five major components. The school helps kindergartners:
Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz’s curriculum for primary school is a bit more rigorous than the kindergarten level. The school focuses on the further development of basic skills with the help of extracurricular activities.
As soon as children transition into college students, they are allotted a certain autonomy through time management skills and independent study habits. Usually, at this stage, students are introduced to teacher-specific subjects.
Throughout these years, children are supported by their teachers and a peer group, who play an essential role in helping them organize and adjust to their new life and environment at college.
In addition to this, students learn a fourth language from the 5th year. They participate in competitions and trips, learn to speak in public and work in groups. They also develop strong critical thinking skills in a stimulating and engaging program that requires their commitment.
At the end of the 3rd year, the Diplôme Bational du Brevet (DNB) examines the knowledge and skills that students have acquired at the end of college. Students take written exams in mathematics, French and history-geography, as well as an oral exam in art history.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) ensures that private schools in Dubai contribute positively to the Emirate’s educational sector.
The agency evaluates schools on various parameters, including quality of education, curriculum, school performance and campus facilities. The final ratings are published in an annual report by DSIB. The image below represents the six-point scale used to rate schools.

To register your child with the school, you must follow these simple steps. Lycee Francais Jean Mermoz’s admission process is open to students belonging to different religions and cultures.
The first step is to complete the online registration. Interested candidates need to create an account and fill out the form. This account will also help you establish contact with the LFJM Al Quoz 1 registration team should you need help.
Parents are also requested to submit the following documents at the time of admission:
Once the registration is complete, parents are required to pay AED 500 as the non-refundable and non-transferable registration fee via bank transfer, cash or cheque.
After the registration fee has been paid, your dossier will be forwarded to the admission team for scrutiny. If your child is studying at a school affiliated with/approved by AEFE or has been schooled in France, he or she will only need to appear for an interview. Students receiving education from an establishment that is not approved by the AEFE will have to sit for an entrance test besides the interview.
After the entrance exam and interview have been conducted, you will be informed of the final result via email. If your child receives an admission offer, you are required to pay 10% of the annual fee as the registration deposit. Please note that the deposit is non-transferable and non-refundable but will be adjusted against the first term’s tuition fees.
A successful admission means that the student will be sent a welcome booklet in June with all the essential information for the start of the school year.
