OVERVIEW

Indian Private School Al Ain is one of the oldest schools in the UAE. Established in April 1977, the school was affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi in 1985. It is an affordable school offering classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in a co-educational setup.

The CBSE appointed the school as an exclusive CBSE examination centre in Al Ain in 1988. Continuing the expansion, the Senior School section was added in 1989 to include Grade XI & XII as per the CBSE curriculum.

Currently, there are 1,917 students, with the majority being Indian expats. The teaching staff consists of 118 teachers and 1 teaching assistant. In the KG section, the teacher to student ratio is 1:25 while in the Primary, Middle and High school it is 1:30.

Indian School Al Ain campus has developed rapidly since the management successfully launched the school’s own building in 1984. A new block for girls was inaugurated in 1990 followed by the new block for Primary Section in 1992. The campus was expanded further in 2005 with the fourth block’s addition featuring spacious classrooms and modern labs. The extension primarily aimed to accommodate the high influx of students.
Besides the administrative block, the school campus includes a well-equipped library, a reading room, an audiovisual centre, a medical room and a computer science room.

Indian School Al Ain has three well-equipped science laboratories for Physics, Biology and Chemistry. There are two computer labs with modern amenities to improve IT skills in students. The well-equipped library has over 21,000 books for elementary and secondary school students. The large collection includes fiction, non-fiction and reference books in French, Hindi and Arabic.

Indian School Al Ain Curriculum

The school offers CBSE curriculum from Grade 1 onwards. In Kindergarten, a mix of Kindergarten and Montessori approaches is offered. The curriculum throughout all grades has a perfect blend of teacher-directed and child-directed activities. The curriculum is reviewed and revised periodically.

The kindergarten section follows a child-centric approach. Key objectives include:

ADEK inspected Indian Private School Al Ain from 23rd October to 26th October 2017. The school managed to secure a ‘Good’ rating, which was a step up from the previous ‘Weak’ rating.|

Students’ achievement was found to be good, and their personal, social and innovation skills were also good. The curriculum is acceptable, and teaching and assessment are good. The school provides acceptable protection, guidance, care and support to students. Indian School Al Ain leadership and management was also rated good by the authorities.

The overall performance of the school was found to be good. Students show good achievement overall and most students exceed the expectation in Maths, English and Science. They make good progress in Arabic medium subjects.

Students and staff share a good and respectful relationship. They are courteous to each other and contribute to a positive learning environment. Teachers have good subject knowledge and they continue to develop their teaching skills because of the staff development programme.

Students enjoy their lessons and gain knowledge and understanding of key subjects. However, the EYFS framework has some gaps.

The overall quality of protection, guidance and support is acceptable at Indian School Al Ain. The school provides support to students who need special educational needs but it is not well-developed.

How to apply to Indian School Al Ain?

Indian School Al Ain admission process starts in January/February every year and is subject to the availability of seats and the candidate’s performance during entrance tests. Indian School Al Ain welcomes students from all nationalities and evaluates applications strictly on merit basis.
Admission for KG-1 solely depends on the availability of seats. Those interested in joining Grades 1 to 9 and Grade 11 must clear the school entrance test.

School Transportation at Indian School Al Ain

Indian School Al Ain has a well-maintained fleet of AC buses for a safe commute. Each bus has a conductor to help children board the bus. Parents are advised to read the terms and conditions mentioned in the transport application and sign the undertaking.

Transport fee must be paid for the full academic year (10 months) even if the student discontinues the transport service in the middle of the year. No concession is given for any period of absence. Requests for school transport in the middle of the academic year are only entertained if a seat is available.

Presently, the school’s transport facility is available on selected routes. Those interested in using the bus service can fill the Transportation Form.

Medical Care at Indian School Al Ain

The clinic staff at the certified Indian School in Al Ain meets HAAD license requirements. It’s the nurse’s responsibility to provide first aid whenever needed. Appropriate arrangements are made for students who fall sick during school hours.
