Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery, founded in 2011, is a British curriculum nursery with campuses in Umm Suqeim and Al Safa in Dubai. As the UAE’s first eco-focused nursery, it blends the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework with a nature-inspired approach to early childhood education. The nursery combines nurturing care and eco-friendly values with traditional teaching, offering a range of academic and extracurricular activities that support holistic child development.

Campuses of Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery

Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery offers two campuses designed by experts to create a nurturing, nature-inspired environment that enhances children’s sensory, physical and intellectual development. Classrooms are designed to represent natural landscapes like "Treetops" and "Sand Dunes" and are equipped with organic, non-toxic materials to ensure a safe, home-like setting. There are activity stations that encourage child-led play, with a cosy gymnasium and library available for physical and quiet activities.

Emphasising outdoor learning, the Al Safa campus features a spacious garden with a nature trail, real grass, wooden play equipment, a sandpit, waterplay, a cycle track and a vegetable patch children help tend. An outdoor classroom provides sensory play opportunities with natural toys.

Curriculum at Home Grown Children’s Eco System

Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery offers a distinctive educational program that combines the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum with eco-conscious principles. The curriculum nurtures essential skills through exposure to a green, eco-friendly environment, fostering social responsibility in young learners.  

Aligned with EYFS standards, the curriculum covers seven key areas of learning, divided into prime areas and specific areas including:

The Green Engagement Programme enhances traditional EYFS learning with hands-on lessons in conservation, preservation and sustainability, such as composting, recycling, organic gardening and protecting endangered species. Arts and crafts focus on recycled materials and plastic use is minimised. 

Children at Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery enjoy daily language lessons in French or Arabic, with visiting teachers also providing classes in Music, Yoga and Sport. These sessions enrich the nursery’s curriculum. Phonics, literacy and numeracy are taught alongside environmentally focused lessons, ensuring children develop both foundational academic skills and a lifelong respect for nature. How to Apply to Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery

Health and Safety Measures at Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery

For Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery, Health and Safety come first. Children are always supervised, with a staff member stationed at the door during drop-off and pick-up. The nursery ensures all electric points are secured and fire drills occur each term with detailed evacuation procedures displayed and explained to staff and parents. Fire doors are kept unobstructed and fire-fighting equipment is regularly inspected.

All resources are non-toxic, hygienic and checked for safety, while the outdoor area is securely fenced and monitored. Staff undergo UAE background checks and security badges are required for all authorised pick-ups. A qualified nurse is always present and parents’ consent for emergency care is sought at admission.

Home Grown Children’s Eco Nursery consider regular and effective communication between teachers and parents to be essential for a child's development. Parents receive frequent updates on daily activities and their child's progress. Communication methods include a parent/teacher notebook for ongoing dialogue, weekly activity timetables and daily interactions with staff. Formal written feedback is provided once a term, along with suggestions for extending learning at home.

The nursery also hosts parent-teacher evenings to strengthen connections. In line with the eco policies, parents can choose to receive correspondence electronically or in paper format, ensuring a sustainable approach to communication.
