GEMS Our Own English High School Sharjah Curriculum

OOEHS Sharjah offers the CBSE curriculum designed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Students appear for the All-India Secondary Schools Examination (AISSE) at the end of Grade 10 and the All-India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) at the end of Grade 12. These examinations are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, India.

Academic Calendar for GEMS Our Own English High School Sharjah

The academic year at Our Own High School Sharjah is split into two terms:

  • The first term starts in the second week of April and ends in late October. Children go on a 2-month summer break from 4th July until 29th August.
  • The second term starts in early November. The school then closes for a 3-week winter break in December and resumes in January. The second term ends in the last week of March.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to GEMS Our Own English High School Sharjah?

Students have to meet the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) guidelines for admissions. The admissions process at Our Own English High School Sharjah is as follows:

  • Parents must first enrol online to initiate the admissions process. Once a student submits an online enquiry form, he/she become a candidate for admission.
  • Once the academic year, grade and term details are provided, the system will generate the current admission status. If the required grade no longer has seats available, the admissions should be considered closed. 
  • The form requires parents to enter the student’s background, passport and visa details, and the primary contact information of the father/mother/guardian.
  • After the completion of the online enquiry form, the school will use the email address and contact number provided in the form for further communication.

Important documents required during the admission process include:

  • Attested Pass Certificate & the final result of the last grade (except for KG1, KG2 & Grade 1)
  • Admissions for all grades (including KG1, KG2 & Grade 1) will require a duly attested Transfer Certificate TC, the previous grade’s final result, and the first term / periodic test result of the current class after the 31st of May.
  • Attested Pass Certificate & final result of the last two grades for registration in Grade 11 and Grade 12.
  • Applicant’s birth certificate in English/Arabic. (Two copies)
  • Immunisation Certificate (Two copies)
  • Applicant’s valid passport (minimum six months validity). All three pages, the first & last page of the passport and the visa page are on the same side of a single sheet as required by the ministry. (3 copies)
  • Valid residence visa of the applicant (minimum 6 months validity) (three copies)
  • Emirates ID card of the applicant (minimum 6 months validity). Both sides of the card are to be copied on the same side of a sheet. (two copies)
  • Parents’ valid passport (one copy)
  • Emirates ID Card (one copy)
  • Applicant’s recent photo (4cm x 6 cm) (4 photos)

Documents should be attested as stated below:

  • Students transferring from India: Transfer certificate and results issued abroad (outside the UAE) must be attested by the district education officer in India or relevant authority, the Indian Consulate in Dubai and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sharjah. 
  • Students transferring from Gulf countries outside the U.A.E: Transfer certificate and result should be attested by its Ministry of Education, its embassy in the UAE and MoFA Sharjah.
  • Students transferring from within the U.A.E: Submit the original transfer certificate/school leaving certificate of the school last attended (Arabic), duly attested by the Ministry of Education and results of the previous grade.

Important pointers to keep in mind during admissions:

  • Students cannot get admissions into Grade 10 and Grade 12. They have to go through a screening test.
  • Admission is also subject to the availability of seats in that grade.
  • The principal reserves the right to refuse admission.

Before initiating the admission process, parents should be aware of the age placement guidelines for each class.
