KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM

In the kindergarten stage, GEMS Our Own English High School follows a thematic curriculum. The school targets students’ development via activity-based and skill-oriented learning. PRIMARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

In the primary stage, GEMS Our Own English High School targets the holistic development of students via formal learning methods. The school follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum with the standards set by NCERT for primary and subsequent phases of education.

Besides the common core subjects of English, mathematics and science, students can opt for either Hindi, Malayalam, Urdu or French as second language. Moreover, they have to study Arabic, Islamic Education and UAE social studies as mandated by MOE. Please note that Islamic Education is mandatory for Muslims.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CURRICULUM

In the middle school, teachers focus on students’ personal growth and development. It aims to foster positive, active and reflective students that are ready to tackle the academic challenges. The school continues to follow CBSE curriculum and teaches similar subjects with complex concepts. The second language options for this stage remain the same as of primary school.

SENIOR SCHOOL CURRICULUM

In this stage, the school prepares students to sit external board examinations in Grade 10 and Grade 12. These examinations are conducted by CBSE and the syllabus is based on the learning guidelines and subjects recommended by the same board. The curriculum complies with the regulations of standards of CBSE, KHDA and MOE.

The compulsory subjects offered in Grade 11 and Grade 12 are English, life skills, general studies, work experience and health and physical education. Islamic Studies is mandatory for all Muslims.

Academic Calendar for GEMS Our Own English High School

Like other Indian schools in the UAE, the academic calendar of GEMS Our Own English High School Dubai starts in April and ends in March.

  • There are two terms in the academic year. The first term starts in the first week of April and ends in the last week of October. The second term starts in the first week of November and ends in the mid of March.
  • Students go on two seasonal holidays. The summer break is expected from the beginning of July till the end of August. Whereas, the winter break is expected from the second week of December till the end of December.

Admission and Fees

How to Apply to GEMS Our Own English High School?

Admissions into Gems Our Own English High School start in October every year. Parents can fill the online registration form available on the school’s website. Once the form is submitted, the school notifies parents regarding the availability of the seat.

Parents must submit these documents with the admission form:

  • Four copies of the student’s passport with a valid UAE visa
  • Three copies of the student’s birth certificate (in English or Arabic) original must be attached for verification.
  • Five recent photographs of the student (size 6×4 cm)
  • Copy of Emirates ID card of student and parents
  • Copy of mark sheet of the previous exam passed at the previous school (only applicable for grade 1 and above)
  • Original vaccination card and one copy
  • Original Emirates ID card of student and parents (It will be returned after scan)
  • Those applying to Grade 2 and above need to submit the last school’s original transfer certificate/school leaving certificate. (Duly attested)

If the student is coming from India:

  • The original Transfer Certificate should be original, and it should also be verified by the Education officer of the Zone/District/Area of the school. For ICSE and CBSE students, the transfer certificates should be attested from the relevant board.
  • The seal and signature of the Education Officer should be attested by the Indian Consulate of Dubai.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dubai/Sharjah-UAE to should have also attested the T.C.

If the student is coming from Gulf countries other than the UAE and Oman, the original Transfer Certificate has to be attested by the following:

  • Indian Consulate in that country
  • Local Education Ministry of that country
  • External Affairs Ministry of that particular country
  • U.A.E. Consulate or Embassy in that particular country has to attest it

If the student is coming from Oman:

  • All the above attestations, excluding no. 2, are to be completed.
  • Students coming from other emirates except Dubai have to submit the original Transfer Certificate/School Leaving Certificate of the last attended school, duly attested by the Ministry of Education of that emirate.
  • Students coming from Dubai schools have to apply for the Transfer Certificate from their previous school that can be transferred online.
  • All admissions from KG to Grade XII finalised after 15th June must have a studying/ discontinued T.C. valid for only 30 days from the last date of attendance. Other attestations requirements remain the same as above.

Upon completion of online registration, the application fee of AED 525 (VAT inclusive) is applicable. It is non-transferable and non-adjustable. However, the application fee is refundable, subject to terms and conditions.

An additional 10% of annual tuition is charged during admission as the registration deposit. It is non-refundable and non-transferable, but it can be adjusted against tuition fees for the academic year. When the admission has been processed, AED 30 is charged for the school ID card and diary.

Parents can develop a personalised transport plan for their child and submit the transport request form with the requirements and details of the preferred route. It is an easy and simple process.
