Crescent International Private School is a primary school based in Khalifa City A, Abu Dhabi catering to students aged 4 to 13. Established in June 1991, it offers classes from KG to Grade 8. At the time of launch, Crescent International School Abu Dhabi had 150 students and ten teachers.
It follows the British curriculum (the English National Curriculum from Early Years to Grade 8) and has almost 340 boys and girls aged 3 to 12 years. The teaching faculty consists of 22 teachers and four teaching assistants. The teacher to student ratio is 1:12, which ensures individual attention for students.
In November 2010, Crescent School Abu Dhabi relocated from a villa in Khalidiya to a purpose-built modern campus in Khalifa City A, close to the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The relocation to the outskirts of Abu Dhabi resulted in the reduction of the number of students. However, the total number of students has grown to more than 250. The school has opened registrations for Grade 7 for the academic year 2020 – 2021 and Grade 8 for the academic year 2021-2022
Al Shamkha is based far from central Abu Dhabi and is one of the city’s largest residential communities. Islamic Studies, Social Studies and Arabic are part of the curriculum throughout primary school. Similarly, regular assessments are planned to gauge students’ progress. Crescent International School uses standardised Cambridge assessment to measure and record student progress and attainment.
ADEK inspected Crescent School Abu Dhabi from 12th to 15th March 2018 and rated it as “Acceptable.” This was a step up from the previous ‘Weak’ rating.

According to the ADEK report, the senior leadership of the school is stable. The expansion of the governing body has impacted the school positively. Crescent School has recruited native English teachers, and as a result, staff turnover is high.
Students show acceptable achievement in all subjects. Their attainment is weak in English, but it is acceptable in the KG section. Students also have acceptable learning skills overall.
Students’ personal and social development is acceptable. They are respectful and considerate towards each other and enjoy a positive relationship with teachers. Students are keen to learn and understand the UAE’s culture and heritage. However, their involvement in the community and independent learning skills are less developed.
Teaching and assessment are acceptable overall. Teachers have the adequate subject knowledge, and they plan engaging activities by making appropriate use of resources. However, teachers’ planning is not always sufficiently modified to meet the needs of students of all ages. Assessment data should be used for monitoring students’ progress.
The school curriculum is acceptable and is appropriately structured for providing continuity and progression in almost all subjects. Teachers do not adapt to the curriculum well enough to provide support to all groups of students. They also do not provide opportunities for innovation.
Crescent International School has acceptable protection, support, care and guidance to students. Students feel safe in a secure environment. Gifted and Talented students and students with special educational needs (SEN) are appropriately identified. However, they get inconsistent support in lessons.
School leaders show a clear commitment to improvement plans. Communication with parents and their involvement is acceptable.
Although the school has less developed links with the wider community. School leaders effectively ensure that the school is safe for students and operates smoothly. The resources, however, are insufficient to support effective learning.
The academic year at Crescent International Private School is divided into three terms.
Term 1 begins in August. The mid-term week is scheduled during October, and students go on a winter break from 15th December.
Term 2 starts in January and ends with a spring break in the first week of April. Classes for Term 3 resume in the second week of April, and the academic year ends in July.

Parents are requested to pack nutritious and healthy food such as sandwiches, fruits and juice. Chips, fizzy drinks and chocolates are NOT allowed at the school. Students can also use the canteen services available on campus.
Emirates Transport works as Crescent School’s transport provider. Students are advised to reach their designated pickup point 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. For safety reasons, students must be accompanied by an adult during drop-off and pick-up.
Parents can contact the bus supervisor if needed. If a child is not going to use the bus, parents must communicate the message to the bus supervisor at least 20 minutes before the scheduled bus arrival time.
There is a cricket pitch, a school gymnasium and a swimming pool at the school.
There is a clinic in the school premises where students’ medical needs are attended during school hours.
Parents are kept well-informed about their child’s progress. Parents’ teacher meetings are conducted once every term.
