ADEK School Ratings

According to the ADEK report, the senior leadership of the school is stable. The expansion of the governing body has impacted the school positively. Crescent School has recruited native English teachers, and as a result, staff turnover is high.

Students show acceptable achievement in all subjects. Their attainment is weak in English, but it is acceptable in the KG section. Students also have acceptable learning skills overall.

Students’ personal and social development is acceptable. They are respectful and considerate towards each other and enjoy a positive relationship with teachers. Students are keen to learn and understand the UAE’s culture and heritage. However, their involvement in the community and independent learning skills are less developed.

Teaching and assessment are acceptable overall. Teachers have the adequate subject knowledge, and they plan engaging activities by making appropriate use of resources. However, teachers’ planning is not always sufficiently modified to meet the needs of students of all ages. Assessment data should be used for monitoring students’ progress.

The school curriculum is acceptable and is appropriately structured for providing continuity and progression in almost all subjects. Teachers do not adapt to the curriculum well enough to provide support to all groups of students. They also do not provide opportunities for innovation.

Crescent International School has acceptable protection, support, care and guidance to students. Students feel safe in a secure environment. Gifted and Talented students and students with special educational needs (SEN) are appropriately identified. However, they get inconsistent support in lessons.

School leaders show a clear commitment to improvement plans. Communication with parents and their involvement is acceptable.

Although the school has less developed links with the wider community. School leaders effectively ensure that the school is safe for students and operates smoothly. The resources, however, are insufficient to support effective learning.
