Sections | Grade Covered |
---|---|
Kindergarten | Pre-KG to KG 2 |
Elementary School | Grade 1 to Grade 5 |
Middle School | Grade 6 to Grade 8 |
High School | Grade 9 to Grade 12 |
Al Mawakeb School Khawaneej curriculum is divided into four sections to appropriately cater to each grade level. A mixture of the American and MOE curriculum helps widen the scope of the lessons taught.
The kindergarten section includes classes from Pre-KG to KG 2. Here, major emphasis is given to the French language so that a solid foundation can be built early on. In fact, a trilingual program consisting of English, French and Arabic language is inculcated to enhance students’ exposure.
Additionally, little ones are routinely engaged in ventures that promote reading and writing habits. Most activities at this level are child-led and teacher-initiated.
The elementary or primary school introduces children to optional courses that are teacher-specific such as Arabic B, French B, Social Studies and Islamic Education. Since students are trained and encouraged to be more independent in academic and non-academic aspects, the curriculum becomes a bit challenging.
However, to maintain the same excitement when it comes to effective learning, the school often takes students on field trips, educational trips and allows them to take part in a wide range of extra and co-curricular activities.
Al Mawakeb School Al Khawaneej curriculum for middle and high school overlaps since students are now being prepared to attain a high school diploma. Most courses are teacher-specific and slightly more complex than the versions taught before.
Various assessment tools are employed to ensure that students prepare for their high school diploma adequately. Assessments like MAP, CAT4, PSAT and TIMSS ensure that students improve their performance against the set benchmarks.
International assessment and entrance exams like PSAT, SAT, TOFEL and IELTS take place during high school. Similarly, kids can enrol in advanced placement courses offered by the school to increase their chances of getting into prestigious overseas universities in the USA and Canada.
