Why plan a Vacation when you can Staycation?!
It’s that time of the year again, Dubai. You can tell Spring Break is around the corner when you hear all the excitement and the commotion about the different trips your friends and family are talking about. We all know how exciting it can be to plan a trip overseas but let’s try exploring our own UAE this year, and visit all the exciting places we have been planning to go to since forever. Why? Because the weather is perfect! It’s warm enough to swim in the sea and the evenings are gorgeously cool to sit outside and have a BBQ. We suggest you take advantage of it as it won’t be here for long. So here are a few ways you can make the most out of your Spring Break.
Have a Drink in Sub-Zero Surroundings
Need a drink? Try the Chillout Lounge. The temperature here goes down to -6 degrees Celsius and the bar is made out of ice. Don’t worry, you are given a warm coat to wear once you are inside. You can try a chilled drink when you sit in the ice room or if it gets too cold for you, there are warmer drinks as well. It’s located at the Times Square Center on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Experience a performance at The Act Dubai
Dubai is all about the height and The Act Dubai shows this with a 43-storey high theatre. It provides awesome entertainment and an invigorating experience with a wonderful view for selfies. It’s located on the 42nd floor of the Shangri-La Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Rd. You are bound to impress your friends with pictures of theatre stars if you get an opportunity to meet one! You can know about the featured shows and reserve your spot at Act Dubai’s website.
Check In at a local resort
Take the kids or go as a couple to a resort like the Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah or Bab Al Shams for a more desert-like feel. You will not only save on airline tickets, but have an amazing time by camping in the desert, swimming with dolphins, going for a shark safari, at the lost chambers aquarium, trying out fantastic dining options, dance until dawn at one of their incredible venues, or just relax at the Spa. Dubai is sure to amaze you, and you will fall in love with the emirate all over again!
Still want an away-from-home feeling?
Just an hour and a half drive away from Dubai you will find the historic oasis town of Al Ain. You can visit the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort here to have a quality time with your family. Set in a unique desert environment, you will be able to see African animals such as lions, zebras, giraffes and wildebeests along with other animals native to the Arabian Peninsula. You can round off the day with a drive up the most famous mountain Jebel Hafeet. The road climbs for 11.7 km up the mountain elevating you to an impressive 1219 metres. Have a refreshing drink at the Jebel Hafeet Hotel once you reach the top. You will be surprised by the cool weather up there.
Adventure at Hatta Pools
Love off-roading in the UAE? Try Hatta Pools! It is one of the easiest and most popular off-road drives in the country. On the 115-kilometre trip to Hatta, you can see the stunning red sand dunes of the “Big Red” and the impressive views of the rugged Hajar Mountains. Once you arrive at the pools, your children will be all excited to jump into the rock pools. Finish the day by treating yourself to a cappuccino on the terrace of the Hatta Fort Hotel. In case you don’t feel confident to do the trip yourself, there are tour companies that can organise the trip for you. Keep your passport and Emirate’s ID with you when travelling to Hatta as you will be passing through Oman.
Beach sports and barbeque at East Coast
East Coast is just a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Dubai. Here, lying between the Indian Ocean and the Hajar Mountains, you will find some great hotels such as Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa and Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach that offer fantastic family facilities.
You can enjoy the beach and water sports with your family here. Snorkelling and diving off Snoopy Island are both very popular here. If you love barbequing, you can head over to the Sandy Beach Motel. Here you can rent a bungalow and prepare your own BBQ in the evenings. You can also do take a drive to the Bidiya Mosque if you like historic places. It’s the UAE’s oldest mosque and dates back to 640 AD.
These were our suggestions to help you make the most out of the spring break while staying in the country– enjoy!
