THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
Catch the world’s most famous musical in Dubai this October! Phantom of the Opera, which has been performed in 166 countries, garnered 70 major theatre awards and has been running for 30 years, is making its way to Dubai.
Easily one of the biggest shows in Dubai happening in 2019, it’s had an extra week of showtimes added due to popular demand. You’ll be treated to spectacular performances by 130 cast and orchestra, stunning scenery and special effects and the powerful music of Andrew Lloyd Webber at The Phantom of the Opera Dubai musical. It tells the story of Phantom, a musical genius who haunts the Paris Opera House and falls in love with a young singer Christine.

THE NUTCRACKER
Kicking off the December schedule of Dubai Opera shows is the St-Petersburg Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre’s iconic two-act ballet, The Nutcracker.
This ballet, beloved by audiences around the world, is the chance to see the exceptional choreography by St Petersburg Ballet Theatre and Tchaikovsky’s magical score. It’s based on the German novel, The Nutcracker and The Mouse King and tells the story of Clara Stahlbaum, whose wooden nutcracker comes to life on Christmas Eve.
The Nutcracker at Dubai Opera will run only for four days, so get your tickets fast to witness a classic Christmas story.

MICA PARIS SINGS ARETHA FRANKLIN
Upcoming shows at Dubai Opera will include a stirring performance by British singer Mica Paris, who will revive musical legend Aretha Franklin’s greatest hits – including Natural Woman and I Say A Little Prayer! Mica Paris is one of the UK’s biggest soul singers at the moment, known for collaborations with big names like Prince and Nile Rodgers.

PASSENGER
Ever sung along to the soulful hit Let Her Go? Well, don’t miss the British singer-songwriter Passenger performing it live at the Dubai Opera. One of the biggest upcoming shows in the Dubai Opera schedule, Mike Rosenberg, otherwise known as Passenger, will be serenading audiences with his best songs, which span multiple genres including folk, rock and indie-pop.

BOOTLEG BEATLES
Performing for 40 years and regarded as the world’s best Beatles tribute band, the Bootleg Beatles are heading to the Dubai Opera this November. They’ll be recreating the Beatles’ journey through the 1960s – and with painstaking attention to detail and authenticity, too! Watch out for the period costumes, instruments and vocals – the accuracy and similarity will delight Beatle fans!

GUY MANOUKIAN
Also on the Dubai Opera schedule is the return of Lebanese-Armenian composer and pianist, Guy Manoukian. His fusion of Arabic melodies with modern arrangements launched him into the limelight, and have sold out concerts in Singapore, Dubai, Cairo, London and Los Angeles. Performing at the Lebanese Presidential Palace when he was only 7 years old, Guy Manoukian’s show at the Dubai Opera house is one not to miss! He’ll be playing his ‘best of’ albums and his favourites, and fans are in for a treat!

OMAR KAMAL
Among the upcoming events at the Dubai Opera house to look out for is a Palestinian-born singer Omar Kamal, whose influences range from Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, The Weeknd and Mohammed Abdel Wahab. Composer and singer, Omar Kamal has the ability to blow audiences away with captivating and honest performances across a variety of genres and languages.

A TRIBUTE TO DALIDA
One of the upcoming Dubai Opera shows not to miss out on is the tribute concert to Dalida, performed by the Palestinian star Lina Sleibi. Born in Egypt and later moving to France, Dalida shot to international fame for her songs in Arabic, English, Italian and French.
Lina Sleibi, who is known for her covers of Arabic music, is most famous for her cover of Dalida’s Helwa Ya Baladi. She’ll be performing Dalida’s greatest hits, including Bambino, Salma Ya Salama, Ahsan Nas.

ANOUSHKA SHANKAR
Among the best concerts in Dubai Opera in 2019 is by sitar player Anoushka Shankar, who is the daughter of the musical icon Ravi Shankar. Training under her father since the age of nine, Anoushka’s innovative work draws from Indian classical tradition and progressive world music. She’s performed across the world at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and now will be performing at the stunning Dubai Opera.

MUSIC IN THE STUDIO
If you’re looking for a musical experience in a setting where you can truly connect with music, you’ll love Dubai Opera’s Music in the Studio. This is your chance to experience soulful performances in the opera house’s rehearsal and recording studio. There will be three concerts leading up to Christmas, starting off with a violin and piano concert by BBC Young Musician of the Year Finalist Stephanie Childress and Kumi Matsuo in October. This will be followed by a jazz concert by Arkady Shilkoper in November and a festive concert by Royal Opera House singer Mary Bevan and pianist Amira Fouad!

HANDEL’S MESSIAH
Composer George Frederic Handel’s much-loved oratorio ‘Messiah’, one of the most popular musical works of all-time, will be performed for one night only at the Dubai Opera! Performed by the St Petersburg Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre’s Orchestra, along with the local Dubai Opera Festival Chorus. This is one of the festive Dubai Opera shows that is perfect for the whole family and will be brought to life by more than 200 musicians and voice.

THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA
Looking for Dubai Opera shows in November? If you’d like something for the whole family, take the little ones to see The Tiger Who Came To Tea, which has been adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name.
Kids will fall in love with this colourful, funny and magical production, which has sing-alongs, audience participation and plenty of twists and turns. It’s directed by David Wood OBE, who is known for his successful musicals and plays for children.
