These are the Areas of Dubai with the Most ‘Outstanding’ Schools
Last Tuesday, the parents of Dubai were treated to the latest report by Dubai School Inspection Bureau (DSIB). For those of you who are unfamiliar, the DSIB is part of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, otherwise known as KHDA. In keeping up with Bayut.com’s mission to not just help you make the right property decisions but also help you make the best out of living in the UAE, we bring you an exclusive report on areas of Dubai with the most ‘outstanding’ schools, based on DSIB’s report.
THE KEY FINDINGS of the 2016-2017 REPORT by DSIB
The DSIB conducted extensive research on the educational performance and standards of schools. Firstly, they observed an increase in the number of Dubai students who are enrolled in well-reviewed schools. Back in 2008-2009, only 30% of students attended the ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ schools while today that percentage is a remarkable 64%.
Secondly, KHDA’s inspectors thoroughly reviewed 159 Dubai schools in total. Out of these, only 16 were rated as ‘outstanding’, while the rest were classified as ‘very good’, ‘good’, ‘acceptable’ and ‘weak’. No schools were deemed ‘very week’ in 2016-2017, which is good news for children and parents across the emirate.
Now, let’s have a look at the areas of Dubai with the most ‘outstanding’ schools. Many of the 16 ‘outstanding’ schools are scattered across Dubai. However, 5 particular areas of Dubai have more than one of the ‘outstanding’ schools in their vicinity. Settling down in the 5 areas indicated below would be a good way to save on commute, time and stress, in addition to providing your children with first-class education.

Kings’ School Dubai and Gems Dubai American Academy are both located in Al Barsha. The former takes the number 1 spot on DSIB’s list, while the latter sits at a very high 8th spot. Gems Wellington International School and Dubai College ranked 2nd and 5th, respectively, and are both located in Al Sufouh. Browse rentals in Al Barsha and Al Sufouh to find yourself a home close to those schools.
The third on the list of areas of Dubai with the most outstanding schools is Jumeirah. This area has got both Jumeirah College (3rd most outstanding) and JESS (ranked 4th). Although both of these schools are technically located in Al Safa 1, everyone who lives in Jumeirah is likely to enrol their children in either Jumeirah College or Jess. Look for properties to lease in Jumeirah to avoid a long commute to any of these schools. If you want to know about all the schools in this area, check out our post on the top 10 schools in Jumeirah.
Unsurprisingly, the area called Academic City has two ‘outstandings’ schools within the community – Dubai English Speaking College (11th spot) and Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou (14th). The last of the five areas is the Nad Al Sheba area, which offers both GEMS Modern Academy (9th spot) and Repton School (ranked 12th) to its residents.
