There’s a mini park made of car parts in Sharjah
Back in November, Sharjah Municipality inaugurated the Sharjah Auto Parts Park, an eco-friendly park made of used car parts and recycled materials. What is being dubbed as a ‘first of its kind’ initiative in the Middle East, the Sharjah Auto Parts Park is an innovative and environmentally-friendly green space fashioned completely out of used car parts, recycled to create beautiful decorative features.
ABOUT THE SHARJAH AUTO PARTS PARK
One of the many green initiatives implemented by the Sharjah City Municipality (SCM), this park made of recyclables has used innovative techniques and consumable materials from vehicles to create a beautiful, relaxing green space.
According to the director general of Sharjah Municipality Thabit Al Turaifi, the park is designed to instill the culture of environmental conservation and innovation within the organisation and its employees.
The mini park also serves as an ideal place to work and conduct municipality meetings outside of routine office space.
All the car parts used in the construction of the Sharjah Auto Parts Park come from Sharjah Municipality vehicles no longer in service.
SHARJAH AUTO PARTS PARK LOCATION
This park made of recyclables is located in Sharjah Industrial Area 3, at the SCM Transport Department office. Although a a great addition to Sharjah’s cultural landscape, the auto parts park is not open to families or the public in general.
Currently, the recycled materials park only serves the Sharjah Municipality employees and their visitors.
INTERESTING FEATURES OF THE RECYCLED MATERIALS PARK
The auto parts park in Sharjah has a number of integrated features that combine to create a beautiful green space, complete with benches and an artificial lake.
The benches in the park are made from reclaimed wood. Vehicle tyres have been repurposed as planters to beautify the area.
The artfully modelled artificial lake is fitted with used fuel tanks that are repurposed as water filters that work to clean the lake. Small fountains in the lake are made out of vehicle exhaust pipes.
Lightings across the mini park have been created out of gear shafts, while the vehicles bonnets have been repainted to create a brilliantly unique and large UAE flag.
