After its introduction in July 2007, the Salik system has significantly improved the city’s road networks. Here’s everything you need to know about Salik in Dubai.
What is Salik?
Salik is the electronic toll gate system in Dubai launched by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on 1 July 2007 to help improve traffic flow on the major roads in Dubai.
To register, visit the official Salik website and create an account as an individual.
How to Purchase a Salik Tag Online?
A Salik tag is a sticker with an electronic sim placed on your car’s windscreen. It enables a tollgate in Dubai to recognise your vehicle when it passes by. This means that Dubai Salik price is deducted directly from the monetary balance in your account.
Getting a new Salik Dubai Tag online is simple. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has made the process paperless and it takes just a few minutes to complete.
New Salik tags can be purchased, registered and activated online either through Salik’s official website or the Smart Salik App — one of the best apps for drivers in Dubai.
When purchasing a Salik tag through the authorised dealers or Salik website, you’ll need to provide:
- Traffic file number
- Mobile phone number
- Registration card of the vehicle
- Other information as per the terms and procedures on the Salik website or Smart Salik App.
Once data is provided, you’ll get an SMS confirming the successful registration or activation of the Salik tag.
Visit the official Salik website to buy a new tag. You can also buy a Salik tag from fuel stations in Dubai. Once you get the new sticker, activate the Salik tag online to complete the process.
