Dubai RTA Golden Chance allows residents of any country to get a licence by simply passing the theory and road test in one go. This initiative started in April 2023 and has been heartily welcomed by expats in the emirate of Dubai.
Eligibility
The eligibility for the Golden Chance for a driving licence in Dubai can be checked via the official website of the RTA, specifically from the Driver and Car Owner Services section.
- Enter your mobile number and Emirates ID
- Select Apply for a New Driving Licence Based on Exchanging Licences
- Apply and select your country from the menu
- Enter the required details
If your country is not on the list of approved ones for automatic licence conversion, you can either go for the Golden Chance Driving Licence or the Normal Stage.
With the Golden Chance Driving Licence, you can take a knowledge test and then a road test JUST ONCE without attending any theory and practical lessons.
Whereas, the Normal Stage is the regular process for a licence.
HOW TO USE THE GOLDEN CHANCE FOR A DRIVING LICENCE IN DUBAI
Visit one of Dubai’s RTA Customer Happiness Centres to register for the initiative. The cost varies depending on the driving school you choose. However, generally, it averages around AED 2,200. This includes licence issuance cost, file opening and test charges.
