HOW TO RENEW A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT IN DUBAI OR ABU DHABI
Filipino expats in the UAE can renew their passports at two locations: the Philippine Consulate General Dubai or the Embassy of the Philippines Abu Dhabi. Below is the complete list of steps for Philippine passport renewal in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
BOOK AN APPOINTMENT
The first step in renewing your Philippine passport in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is to book an appointment at either the Philippine Consulate General Dubai or the Embassy of the Philippines Abu Dhabi.
Below are the online steps for securing an appointment for Philippine passport renewal in Dubai or Abu Dhabi:
- Go to the E-passport appointment portal on the embassy/consulate website
- Register your account on the website
- Complete the online form and make an appointment
Note that to renew your Philippine passport in Dubai, you must print the email confirmation of your appointment, along with the QR code. Also, it’s highly recommended to book your Philippine passport renewal appointment at least 10 months to one year before the expiration date of the passport. This is because there is a possibility that appointments are not available closer to the date of expiry.
If you are booking an appointment for your family, then you have to book a separate appointment for each member. You must have the email confirmation to proceed with the Philippine passport renewal process. It’s important to remember that your appointment is not transferable.
To book an appointment for special needs children, email to appoint.auhpe@gmail.com. Make sure to mention “special needs child” in the subject.
TAKE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS WITH YOU
There is a list of documents you must take to the consulate or embassy. These details differ slightly between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
DUBAI
For Philippine passport renewal in Dubai, the following documents must be submitted in person by the applicant:
- A printed copy of the email confirmation of appointment, along with a QR Code
- Original current passport
- Completed E-passport application form
- Photocopies of the passport data page and visa page
- Civil registration documents (birth or marriage certificate) issued by the PH Statistical Authority (PSA) and approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
Additional supporting documents might be required in the case of the following:

- Dual citizenship and/or foreign-sounding family names.
ABU DHABI
For the Philippine passport renewal in Abu Dhabi, the documents required are:
- Completed GOAS application form
- Original current passport
- Photocopy of the passport data page
PLEASE NOTE
In case of renewing the passport of a minor (17 years old and below), you will need:
- An original and photocopy of a Certificate of Live Birth and/or Report of Birth issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
- A photocopy of the passport of either parent.
- An original and a photocopy of a certificate of Marriage and/or Report of Marriage approved by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) if the father initiates the application.
- If the child is under 7, his or her mother can apply for the passport.
Additional documents might be required in cases such as those with brown or green passports and married women who want to use their married surname or revert to their maiden name. The details of the Philippine passport renewal requirements for such cases can be found on the embassy and consulate websites.
VISIT THE EMBASSY OR CONSULATE ON THE DATE AND TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
The next step in the Philippine E-passport renewal is visiting the Dubai Consulate, the e-passport Renewal Centre (PaRC) in WAFI Mall or Abu Dhabi Embassy, depending on where you have booked your appointment.
It’s recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes before your Philippine passport renewal appointment to avoid delays. The procedure when visiting the Embassy of the Philippines Abu Dhabi and the Philippine Consulate General Dubai have slight differences.
Here are the required steps to take when you reach the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai:
- Proceed directly to the Passport Processing Cabin (queue number is not required).
- Drop your original passport into the box indicating your time of appointment.
- The processor will call your name and check that all requirements have been met and the application form has been completed.
- If the processor clears your application, you can proceed to the cashier to pay the Philippine passport renewal fee.
- Proceed to the encoding area to capture your image and biometrics.
Check out the steps to renew your Philippine passport in Abu Dhabi:

- The processor will call your number and check that all requirements have been met and the application form has been completed.

Ensure that all details, such as your name and address, are correct when the encoder is typing up the data. In case of any errors in the passport, the applicant will be required to pay the cost of correcting the details.
COLLECT YOUR NEW PASSPORT
You will need to wait four to eight weeks for the Philippine passport to be released in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. You can check if your renewed Philippine passport is available for release on the respective Philippines Embassy or Consulate websites. They update the list of passports available for release daily.
For the Philippine passport release in Dubai, you will be required to take your receipt, old passport (for cancellation) and a reference number. This number can be found next to your name on the list of passports available for release on the consulate’s website.
