REGISTRATION OF CO-OCCUPANTS IN DUBAI
The relatively recent change in family laws in the UAE allowed unmarried couples to live together and unrelated individuals to share properties. After the law changed, many people started living in shared accommodations in Dubai. This has caused some concern that those sharing a home may not be registered on Ejari.
Now, once you register co-occupants living in rented or owned properties, the Ejari or tenancy contracts in Dubai will be updated automatically. This means that everyone’s rights will be protected in a subletting situation.

Based on the Dubai Land Department (DLD) requirements, all co-occupants staying in a residential unit for a month or more need to be registered. The main tenant (whose name appears on the Ejari contract) should add all the details.
