As the population of Dubai grows, the quantity of waste being produced does as well. This includes paper, plastic, electronic waste and more! For instance, did you know that food waste during the Holy Month of Ramadan increases by 1.5 times the normal amount? However, there is a way every resident in Dubai can make an effort to reduce the amount of waste produced – recycling. The simple act of recycling helps manage waste and use it for alternative purposes. The UAE Government has been actively working to address the issue and introduced a number of initiatives. Today, MyBayut provides readers with a quick guide to the nearest recycling centres in Dubai for your area, and other recycling initiatives to watch out for.
Recycling Initiatives by the Government of Dubai
The Dubai Municipality has installed a number of recycling stations in Dubai. it also initiated the ‘My City My Environment’ program in association with Dulsco. This program provides 240-litre bins that are colour-coded for different kinds of recyclable waste. These recycling bins are stationed across all the major areas of the city and you are likely to find one near you.
There is also the introduction of the smart recycling centres known as the Smart and Sustainable Oasis Recycling Centre. These are solar powered recycling stations that can recycle over 15 different types of waste. You can find these smart recycling centres near Manara Center, Al Karama Centre and Al Barsha Pond Park. These recycling centres in Dubai are open round the clock for residents to access.
