Located in the east along the Arabian Gulf, and boasting beautiful mountains and plenty of attractions, the emirate of Fujairah is a popular place to visit during the holidays for residents of the UAE, especially Eid and the National Day holidays. Since it is about a three-hour drive from Dubai, it is also a popular road trip plan in the UAE. So without further ado, here are all the attractions and places you can see when you visit Fujairah.
Hiking and sightseeing – Wadi Wurayah
Visiting the Wadi Wurayah is possibly one of the most popular activities in Fujairah that get residents and tourists from across the UAE to visit this charming emirate. Located within the Hajjar Mountains, and known to many as the “Grand Canyon of the UAE”, this is one of the best places in the UAE to go hiking and mountain climbing. Just make sure if you are going to do these activities, you plan ahead or are accompanied by professionals who are familiar with the area. There are also waterfalls and streams where you can swim and take pictures. Since this area is in the mountains it’s advised to take a four-wheel-drive and make sure you have a data plan to use the GPS. Also, make sure to stock up with enough water and food as there aren’t any groceries nearby. Other places to go hiking in Fujairah include, Wadi Siij, Wadi Saham and Wadi Ham.

There is a wealth of culture and heritage that can be explored in Fujairah. Some of the most notable places to visit in Fujairah include the Al Badiyah Mosque which is the oldest mosque of the UAE, the Fujairah Fort that was built in the 16th century for the ruling family, the Bithnah Fort and the Al-Hayl Castle. Other places to visit in Fujairah, where you can experience the rich Emirati traditions include the Fujairah Heritage Village and the Fujairah Museum, where you can see traditional homes, hand-held implements and a magnificent collection of antiquities. Other fun things you could do while you’re there is to visit the Friday Market at Masafi a.k.a Souq al Juma, where you can purchase everything from souvenirs, hand-crafted carpets, and clay pots to fruits, vegetables, plants, toys and musical instruments.
Beaches
Since this emirate sits on the coast, something you must do when you visit Fujairah is to go to the beautiful beaches here. There are many beaches in Fujairah that you can go to which include the ever-popular Khorfakkan Beach, Snoopy Island and Sandy Beach amongst others. These beaches feature a range of activities on its shore that include paragliding, jet skiing, boat rides and more! Some of these beaches have dedicated play areas for kids as well as grass areas, so you can set up a picnic right at the beach with the whole family. You can also get a game of volleyball with your friends in one of the conveniently placed courts at these Fujairah beaches.
