Here’s how you can propose new bus routes in Dubai using the RTA app
Dubai is committed to becoming the happiest and smartest city in the world. To support the city’s goals, many happiness initiatives and schemes are introduced to cater to residents’ requirements. One such recent initiative introduced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) allows public transportation users to suggest new RTA bus routes in Dubai using the public transportation service’s smart app.
Apart from the Dubai Metro, the RTA buses in Dubai are one of the most affordable modes of transportation. Thousands of residents and tourists use it on a daily basis to get around. As the city expands with newer developments, attractions and neighbourhoods, there is a need for new bus routes in Dubai to keep the city connected.
There is already a comprehensive network of RTA bus routes in Dubai that connects all the major parts of the city. In addition to this, there are services such as the Abu Dhabi to Dubai bus and other inter-city transport facilities that connects Dubai to the other emirates. Similarly, there is also the Dubai to Oman bus for anyone travelling to Oman.
With this new scheme of allowing public transport users to propose new bus routes in Dubai, the RTA aims to improve the existing public transport network in the city. Opening suggestions from the public for new Dubai bus routes is considered to the first of its kind in the region and the rest of the world.
“This initiative is in line with RTA’s efforts to keep pace with the latest trends of the industry and play a pioneering role in the region. We are focusing on leveraging public transport services, considering it a key tool of driving the development of the Emirate,” said Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.
HOW TO PROPOSE NEW DUBAI BUS ROUTES ON THE RTA APP?
The new feature can soon be accessed on the Dubai bus route app, which is one of the most popular RTA service apps. Users will be able to submit new bus routes by marking their starting and ending point on a map. You can also modify existing Dubai RTA bus routes and even vote on new Dubai bus routes that have been proposed.
The initial launch of this new feature was well received with approximately 2590 new RTA bus routes in Dubai proposed. There was also a good number of voters who voted for opening a new Dubai bus route from Al Qusais to Al Maktoum International Airport and Gold Souq to JAFZA.
