Stop by the Umm Al Quwain Fort

Built in 1786, the fort was constructed by His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Majid Mu’alla to guard the town, serving as the entrance to the old town too. It was also the residence and the seat of his government till 1969.
We would recommend the Royal Family Heritage section, where you can learn in depth about the artefacts of Sheikh Rashid. These are displayed in ‘The Ruler’s Properties’ room, which showcases a collection of traditional gold jewellery and two gold swords. A glazed gold Royal Family Tree is also displayed there. The fort also houses models of archaeological sites such as the “Al-Dur.”
