How to pay house rent in Dubai via Ejari direct debit
Giving post-dated cheques to the landlord or their representatives to pay rent in Dubai has been a standard practice for a long time. However, thanks to the latest initiative by Dubai Land Department (DLD), tenants can now pay rent via Ejari direct debit. Here’s the rental payment process breakdown for using direct debit through Ejari.
HOW CAN I PAY RENT VIA EJARI DIRECT DEBIT?
Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced the initial plan for direct debits in July 2022 in collaboration with the UAE Central Bank. Ejari was fully linked with the system in February 2023 allowing tenants to make rental payments with direct debit via Ejari. The Noqodi Ejari Direct Debit Service will make life easier for all parties involved.
HOW DOES THIS SYSTEM WORK
With this new system, landlords and tenants will mutually agree on a payment schedule at contract signing or renewal. They will decide on recurring payments from the tenant’s accounts as per the DLD manual. This manual also outlines the process of setting up Noqodi Ejari Direct Debit Service. Please remember that tenants have to sign an authorisation form for instalment payments.
Once agreed, neither party can change the dates in the current system, at least for now. This feature could be introduced with an expected update in the near future. You can select the number of payments to be made in a year. For instance, you can set up the required Dubai rent payment via direct debit in 2, 4, 6 or 12 instalments.
To be able to use this service, you need to register for the Noqodi e-wallet. The process is simple:
- Visit the Noqodi website
- Click on the “Sign Up Now” button on the home page
- Select “Personal” as your account type
- Fill in the information required for registration. Your account should be connected to a valid mobile number and email.
- Once completed, you can access and use your new Noqodi account.
