Fancy a walk along the shores of Dubai without getting sand in your shoes? Take a trip to the Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk. This public walkway is a much-loved addition to Dubai’s famous man-made island, Palm Jumeirah, and it has gained immense popularity with residents, locals and tourists since it opened a few years ago.
Wondering what is there to see and do at the Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk? Let’s find out.
What is the Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk?
Apart from being the largest man-made archipelago in the world, Palm Jumeirah is acclaimed as an exemplary beachfront destination, home to some of the best restaurants, high-end resorts and properties in Dubai. While there is plenty to see and do along the crescent, one of the free attractions here is the boardwalk itself.
The Palm Jumeriah boardwalk project officially opened to pedestrians in 2016.
The walkway is 6 metres wide and stretches for 11 kilometres across the outer crest of the man-made island, all the way to the Rixos Palm Jumeirah on the crescent’s east side and to One&Only The Palm on the west.
This is one of the first projects in Dubai that was made specifically for pedestrians. The wooden surface makes for a comfortable walk along the entire stretch — one of the many reasons why the Palm Jumeirah Crescent is considered one of the best places for a walk in Dubai.
