According to the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali is set to undergo a massive transformation.
Nakheel, a major real estate developer in the UAE, has awarded a whopping AED 4.6 billion contract to jumpstart infrastructure development on Palm Jebel Ali, the long-awaited palm-shaped island project. The project was initially delayed, before being revived in 2023.
The move is a part of the government’s plan to double Dubai’s economy by 2033 and the city’s efforts to become an even more popular tourist destination.
HIGHLIGHTS OF PALM JEBEL ALI DUBAI
Palm Jebel Ali will provide opulent beachfront housing and various entertainment and leisure options, significantly boosting Dubai’s tourism industry.
Images of the project give a general idea of how it would appear when completed. Meanwhile, the Dubai Media Office team has shared the following information about it so far:
- There will be seven interconnected islands spread across 10,500,000 sq. ft.
- It will extend Dubai’s shoreline by 110 kilometres.
- The artificial island will be 13.4 square kilometres, double the size of Palm Jumeirah.
- There will be about 35,000 families living there.
- The island will be home to over 80 hotels, resorts and malls.
- It will generate 30 per cent of its energy from renewable sources.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, approved the Master Plan for the Jebel Ali Beach Development Project in July 2024.
