New Emirates ID set to replace residency visa passport stickers
The Emirates ID (E-ID) card, which already has a long list of key functions, will now replace the UAE Residency Visa stickers on expat passports, as per a recent announcement. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security confirmed that they would implement the development from 11th April 2022. We’ve comprised everything you need to know about this latest addition to the functions of the Emirates ID.
ALL ABOUT THE NEW EMIRATES ID FUNCTION
Emirates ID is the UAE’s official identification system for citizens and expats. Moving forward, the new generation E-ID introduced last year will also contain residency visa details of expats. The latest visa status and information will be added to the ID card after residents clear the medical test. That’s right. The UAE residency visa will no longer be issued/stamped on the passport page. This means that the resident’s passport will not fill up as quickly, and renewals will be less frequent.
The ‘new generation’ Emirates ID has a host of new features, such as non-visible data and a service life exceeding ten years.
