ALL ABOUT THE UAE’s NEW 50 DIRHAM NOTE
Some incredible activities have taken place to celebrate the UAE’s Golden Jubilee. The launch of a new 50 Dirham note by the UAE Central Bank is the icing on the very special cake.
The front of the note has a portrait of H.H. Sheikh Zayed and a picture of the founding Rulers after they had signed the Union document. Additionally, there is a picture of the Wahat Al Karama, the memorial to the martyrs of UAE.
The back of the note has an image of H.H. Sheikh Zayed signing the Union agreement. Plus, there is a picture of the Etihad Museum. This redesign recognises H.H. Sheikh Zayed and the founding leaders’ endeavours to unite the nation.
In terms of colour, different shades of fluorescent blue and violet have been used. The drawings and inscriptions add to the artistic look of the new 50 AED note.
The UAE’s new 50 Dirham note is made of polymer. This means it is more durable and sustainable than a cotton paper note. Polymer notes stay in circulation three times longer. Furthermore, these notes can be recycled, hence aligning with the government’s vision of a sustainable future. It also features braille embossing, essential for blind and visually impaired individuals. Enhanced security features will ensure forgery of the new 50 Dirham banknote even more difficult.
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?

The occasion also allowed us to express our appreciation and gratitude to our founding fathers by issuing a new banknote to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE.”
