From robot baristas and virtual avatars to astonishing space missions and an epic viewing deck, here’s MyBayut’s guide to what this magnificent architectural wonder holds in store for its visitors.
OVERVIEW OF THE MUSEUM OF THE FUTURE
This one-of-a-kind project by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, provides a fascinating insight into what the future holds for generations to come.
A visual marvel and a trailblazer in modern technology, the Museum of the Future stands 77 metres tall and covers almost 30,000 sq. m. It is already ranked as one of the most beautiful museums in the world.
The revolutionary museum aims to explore the future of artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies. Apart from being a spectacular tourist attraction, the museum provides a platform for advanced courses, specialised workshops, science conferences and prototype testing of the latest inventions.
STRUCTURE OF THE MUSEUM
Created by Killa Designs, the Museum of the Future Dubai is shaped like a lustrous silver oval with an open centre. The structure, located next to Emirates Towers, has three sections: the green hill, the building and the void. The green hill represents the earth, while the gleaming, futuristic oval symbolises humankind. The structure’s void signifies innovation.
Art and poetry are evident aspects of the Museum of the Future’s building design. You will find Arabic calligraphy engraved on the exterior, including insightful future-related quotations from the Prime Minister of the UAE, H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The exhibition space has two linking bridges, one connecting to the Emirates Tower Metro Station and the other to Jumeirah Emirates Tower.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Museum invites you to gaze “beyond the present to the possible”. According to the museum’s website, the facility combines exhibitions, themed attractions and an immersive theatre which hosts various screenings and public events.
The museum has seven floors, above a three-storey podium and an F&B deck. Level 7 is the Events Hall, with Level 6 marked as private, implying it is exclusively accessible for VIPs. The five remaining levels are where the future does come to life for visitors as they are immersed in a journey of imagination during a two-hour guided tour. They’re accompanied on that tour by a human guide and their virtual avatar guide, Aya! Let’s look at what the museum tour has in store without giving away too many spoilers.
