Unleash your creative expression at Meraki Design & Art Studio
A few weeks ago, Meraki Design & Art Studio invited MyBayut to join them for a “sip and create” session. Needless to say, the thought of trying something creative and new had our excitement levels heading swiftly upwards! In this article, we reveal what we got up to during our visit, the eclectic array of workshops the studio provide, and the talented sister duo that have brought Meraki to life.
ABOUT MERAKI DESIGN & ART STUDIO
Located in Al Quoz, Meraki Art Studio is the brainchild of Kajol and Pooja (Kay and Pooh, as they like to be called). Like the name suggests, this place is all about creating art using different modes of expression. Whether you want to sit and paint in peace or have some fun learning new techniques to create art, the studio’s got you covered
The tastefully designed studio is home to a quaint cafe bar, where you can order your dose of caffeine for the session. Meraki Art Studio Dubai offers private and group workshops that cover a variety of art and wellness sessions. The best thing is, when you sign up for a class, you only have to bring yourself and a creative mood – everything else is provided by the studio.
Both Pooja and Kajol are super friendly and helpful. So just holla at them if you need something and they’ll happily help you out. As for our session with them, check out the details below!
WHAT WE DID THERE?
Upon our arrival we were greeted by the lovely Pooja – co-founder of Meraki Design & Art Studio. She started off by giving us a guided tour of the facility, which included the glow room, the cafe area and the creative workshop space.
Their creative workshop space is where we would be situated for our sip and create session. Needless to say, the huge table was set with all the supplies we needed to create our masterpieces. Pooja suggested we do Resin Art – because it’s fun and was something none of us had tried before!
The session started with Pooja explaining the process of creating the resin mixture, adding colour to it and then techniques for pouring it to create art. But before all that, we were told to wear protective gloves and an apron – because resin is sticky and you don’t want it getting stuck on your hands or clothes.
Once the demo was complete, it was our turn to give it a go. We sipped on some coffee, made our resin mixtures, added our chosen colours and then poured to create some beautiful resin art coasters. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget to accentuate the colours with some gold and glitter. In fact, we went full bling ahead and added some decorative stones as well!
The whole process lasted about an hour and the experience was enjoyably calming. Creatively therapeutic some might say. Pooja and Kajol (co-founder) were with us the entire time, supervising, guiding and having fun conversations to keep the vibe light and amusing. Oh and their music playlist was PERFECT!
