About Malibu Bay
Inaugurated in November 2020, Malibu Bay is a man-made beach and wave pool that recently opened in the DAMAC Hills community. This makes DAMAC Hills the only residential neighborhood in Dubai to have a wave pool.
Spread across an impressive 72,000 sq.ft., residents now have a stretch of beach right on their doorsteps. The pool itself covers an area of 24,700 sq.ft. The waves in Malibu Bay are created by a wave ball imported from Belgium that plunges into the gated centre of the pool.
Malibu Bay in DAMAC Hills is inspired by the popular California-based destination of the same name, which is all the more apparent with the green landscaping and palm trees surrounding the pool.
According to Senior Vice President of DAMAC, Niall McLoughlin, “While the UAE has several artificial islands, I haven’t seen anything like the wave pool in Malibu Bay. It’s definitely unique and one of a kind. From a creative standpoint, you really feel like you are in California’s Malibu Bay, with the serene green landscape, palm trees surrounding the wave pool and the graffiti artwork and surfboards integrated into the design.”
