Things We Love About Dubai!
We write a lot about Dubai. A lot. But sometimes we can take for granted all the wonderful things about the city that makes it the envy of the world over and the region’s most coveted place to live. So today, we’re taking a step back and going through all the reasons why living in Dubai is so awesome:
It’s a Foodie’s DREAM BUFFET
Do you fancy a traditional South Indian breakfast, followed by North Korean for lunch, Aussie-inspired sundowners, sushi for dinner with classic Italian gelato as a snack? What about Ethiopian cuisine? Finnish fare or perhaps some good ol’ pub grub? No matter what cuisine or dish takes your fancy, you’re sure to find it in Dubai. From fine dining in five-star hotels, to beach-side shacks with freshly caught seafood. Restaurants devoted to cocoa or molecular gastronomy on a budget, there’s no end to the incredible cafes, restaurants and food trucks that we take for granted here in Dubai. Even the pickiest and hard-to-please eaters will find something delicious to devour in Dubai.
Every Shopper’s Paradise
The shopping malls in Dubai are the stuff of legend. In fact, The Dubai Mall (the world’s largest by gross leasable area) is a firm fixture on ‘most visited destinations’ lists. After all, where else would you find an indoor aquarium, theme park and international brands from all over the world? Or, dancing fountains that enthrall even long-time residents? But, beyond the glittering malls dotted around the city, there’s also a burgeoning community of local artisans and businesspeople in fields ranging from tech to metalwork, showcasing their wares at markets and other community events. And, given the fact that we are in the Middle East, Dubai also has its fair share of local souqs, with sellers hawking haggleable products like spices, incense, dates, cloth and much more. What’s more, with several exciting new malls in the pipeline, the shopping in Dubai is definitely one of the best in the world.
There is so much to do…really!
At first glance, it may not seem like there’s much to do in our desert city of Dubai, beyond shopping, brunch and lazing on one of the gorgeous beaches. But as anyone who’s ever visited the city can attest – there is always something happening, and if you don’t like what’s on offer, just what a day or two and there will be something new. Adrenaline-junkies can take their pick from activities that cover land, air and sea, and sometimes all three. Fancy the world’s longest, steepest and fastest urban zip line? It’s one of the many things to do in Dubai Marina. What about unleashing your inner Iron Man and trying your hand at flyboarding? Or skydiving? Or getting locked in a labyrinth and trying to solve your way out, courtesy of indoor urban maze Jumble? What about a fantasy card game like Magic: The Gathering? Or acro-yoga? Or something a little more traditional like playing golf, football, cricket, rugby. If you feel like doing something, anything, chances are you can easily do it in Dubai. After all, where else in the world can you go skiing in the morning, a wildlife safari in the afternoon and the world’s tallest building in the evening? We would be amiss if we didn’t include the fabulous properties on the Dubai market on our list of reasons why we love this city! You can even decide on a neighbourhood that suits your lifestyle and personality, your wallet or even the fact that you don’t have a driving license. Honestly, the stellar real estate options available to you are endless and one of the reasons why Dubai attracts investors and tenants from across the world.

If there’s one thing the city has, it’s vision and stellar leadership and it’s definitely one of the reasons to love Dubai. After all, in just a few short decades, the city went from being a quaint pearl-diving village running on trade to the sprawling, awe-inspiring metropolis, home to people from all over the world, that we know and love today. We’ve got gravity-defying buildings and world-changing sustainable initiatives in Dubai, not to mention plans to launch Hyperloop, the cutting edge high speed transport system, flying taxis, robo-cops and more, in the not-so-distant future. It’s one of the few, non-movie-universe cities where the future really is today!
