The St. Francis of Assisi Church in Dubai, which is also simply known as the Jebel Ali Church, is one of the two main Catholic churches in Dubai. History of the St. Francis of Assisi Church Dubai
The Jebel Ali Church is newer compared to the other churches in Dubai. It was situated near the St. Mary’s Church in Oud Metha however, due of the growing number of the Christian faithful in Dubai, a decision was made to move this church to a larger area. Following this, on 4 October 2000, the foundation stone for the Jebel Ali Church was placed.
A year later, the church in Jebel Ali was open to the public after Bishop Giovanni Bernardo Gremoli inaugurated and blessed it on 15 of November 2001. Since then, the church has been serving residents from all different nationalities, hosting masses in many languages.
A look inside the Jebel Ali Church Dubai
Covering an area of 50,000 sq. ft., this church in Jebel Ali is made up of a single building that has been divided into three parts. This includes the main church, the Padua Centre, as well as the area for the Jebel Ali Parish office and residences for the priests and staff.
The first section of the church houses the main altar. This is where all the daily masses and feast masses for Christmas and Easter are celebrated. This area is connected to a large hall, called the Assisi Parish Hall which is opened up if more space is required during masses.
The next section of the Jebel Ali Church is the Padua Centre. This area has a total of 15 individual halls. These are used for prayer meetings and Catechism classes. The third section of the church is for the Parish office and the priests and staff’s residences.
Along with beautifully designed interiors, the church in Jebel Ali also has basement parking which can accommodate up to 70 cars. There is also a beautiful grotto located on the premises for anyone who wants to offer prayers to Mother Mary.

ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI CHURCH LOCATION
The St. Francis of Assisi Church is located in the Jebel Ali District, minutes away from the Al Muntazah Housing Complex. A prominent nearby landmark is the Guru Nanak Darbar in Dubai.
The easiest way to get to the Jebel Ali Church is by car, but it can be accessed by public transport, too. Energy Metro Station on the red line of the Dubai Metro is the closest station to the Jebel Ali Church.
