One of the best things about living in or visiting Dubai is that there’s always something new to explore! This time, it’s not just any beach—it’s a blend of aesthetics, functionality and recreation. The stunning Jebel Ali Beach is undergoing a major transformation, offering a variety of activities for everyone. Whether you’re passionate about turtle conservation or simply looking for a fun-filled day with family, this beach is the place to be!
All About the Jebel Ali Beach and Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan
Dubai is gearing up for an exciting transformation of Jebel Ali Beach, which will become the city’s longest public beach, stretching over 4.1 miles. This ambitious redesign project is part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to create a dynamic, welcoming space where residents and visitors can relax, explore and connect with nature.
More than just a stretch of sand, the new Jebel Ali Beach Dubai will offer a mix of leisure, conservation and education, making it a standout destination.
The beach will be divided into three unique zones, each offering something special.
- The Pearl will be a family-friendly retreat featuring resorts, cafes and spaces designed for people of all ages to enjoy.
- The Sanctuary will focus on preserving marine life, with dedicated programmes for turtle rehabilitation and interactive learning experiences.
- Then there’s The Nest, a vibrant area where recreation meets education, offering swimming pools, diving centres and stunning coastal walkways.
Key Features
Beyond these zones, the beach in Jebel Ali is set to become Dubai’s longest public beach, spanning 6.6 km and covering 330 hectares. The development includes two distinct areas: a 5 km sandy beach, led by Nakheel, and a 1.6 km mangrove beach, managed by Dubai Municipality.
The mangroves add a unique touch to the landscape, creating a natural sanctuary for wildlife while enhancing the area’s biodiversity. The project is designed to balance conservation and visitor experience, making the most of the stunning coastal environment.
Moreover, the beach will offer a 2 km open swimming area and a 2.5 km diving zone, along with scenic walkways and viewing platforms. Visitors will be able to enjoy different activities, from kids’ play zones to sports and marine adventures.

Again, accessibility is a priority, with a well-connected infrastructure that includes a two-lane road in each direction, parking for 1,000 vehicles, 80 bicycle racks, a dedicated cycling track and a 5 km running track, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all!
This massive development is part of Dubai’s larger vision, led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to enhance public spaces and make the city’s beaches more accessible.
Things to Do At Jebel Ali Beach Dubai
Although Jebel Ali Public Beach is undergoing major renovations, there are several things you can still enjoy while there. From water sports to staycations at Jebel Ali Beach Resort, individuals, couples and families have a lot to do!
Watch Sunset and Chill by the Shore
One of the best things to do here is watch the sunset — the way the golden light reflects off the sea creates a breathtaking view that will leave you in awe. The best part? It requires no planning; just bring a beach mat and arrive about an hour before sunset to soak it all in.
Moreover, simply chilling by the shore is a great way to unwind if you’re looking for pure relaxation. The rhythmic sound of the waves, the warmth of the sand beneath your feet and the gentle sea breeze make for a calming and refreshing experience.
Camping
Camping at Jebel Ali Beach is a great way to turn a regular beach day into a memorable night under the stars. There’s something special about falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to the fresh sea breeze.
Before you go, make sure to bring all the essentials, like a sturdy tent, sleeping bags and cooking gear. It’s also important to respect the environment by keeping the beach clean and following local rules.
Also, a beachside barbecue is always a good idea, and many campers love cooking together.

Water Sports
This beach is a paradise for adventure seekers with their own gear, as no rentals or amenities are available. Thanks to the ideal wind conditions, activities like surfing, kite surfing, and windsurfing are especially popular here. If you own a jet ski, this is the perfect spot to take it for a spin.
Don’t have water sports equipment? No problem. Bring along a ball for a game of beach volleyball with friends, or pack a kite and let it soar over the peaceful shoreline. There’s plenty of fun to be had, whether in the water or on the sand!

Plan Staycations
If you’re looking to extend your beach time and make the most of your getaway, a staycation is a fantastic choice. Along the stunning shores of Jebel Ali Beach, you’ll find several top-notch hotels that promise a memorable stay in Dubai.
