WHAT IS THE EFFICIENCY OF SINOPHARM VACCINE?

As per the UAE Government, the Phase III analysis of the China-made vaccine has the following results:

• 86% efficiency against COVID-19 infection.
• 100% effectiveness in stopping moderate or severe cases of the illness.
• 99% seroconversion rate in the neutralisation of antibody.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE SINOPHARM VACCINE?

Citizens and residents above the age of 16 can get vaccinated in the city. However, priority will be given to the elderly and those suffering from other chronic medical conditions.

Please note that certain health-related issues can make an individual ineligible for the vaccine. For example, pregnant women, those suffering from high or low blood pressure, people with heart rate problems might be excluded from the eligibility list.

You will undergo a basic health check about your weight, blood pressure, body temperature etc. Once you have the all-clear signal from the staff, the next step is to sign the consent form.

The entire vaccination process takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Once the dose is administered, you will have to wait in the facility for a little while as directed by the staff. This period is for monitoring the individual and see for signs of immediate side effects. All being well, you will be informed about your next appointment date.

HOW MANY DOSES ARE REQUIRED? 

Two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine are required for each individual. The first dose is given after an assessment of the patient’s health. While the second shot is administered three weeks subsequent to the first vaccination date.

A thorough analysis conducted under the UAE government supervision has shown that there are no safety concerns. The vaccine was widely trialed in the UAE prior to approval, with 31,000 volunteers participating in the drive. No official date has been announced yet. The Pfizer vaccine is currently being rolled out in Dubai. So it’s expected to be available in Sharjah at some point in the future.
