Abu Dhabi to host the remaining HBL Pakistan Super League matches
After a long delay, here’s some exciting news for all the cricket fans in the UAE. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) – Season Six. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming matches.
PAKISTAN SUPER LEAGUE SEASON SIX
For the first four seasons, the UAE was the proud host of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), founded in Lahore on 9 September 2015. Thanks to the fantastic player performances and the spectacular set-up in the UAE, PSL has become one of the most lucrative T20 cricket leagues, attracting millions of viewers worldwide.
When the PSL moved to Pakistan for the 2020 edition, Bayut was a presenting sponsor for the PSL broadcasts in Dubai, featured on sports channels across the country. The plan was to continue the league in its home country, but COVID-19 has thrown a spanner in the works. Initially, the PSL 2021 season was to be played in Pakistan in February and March. However, after some players and staff members tested positive for COVID-19, the tournament had to be postponed.
Thankfully, due to the efforts of the PSL management and support from the UAE government, fans can now enjoy the remaining PSL matches. The fixtures will all be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE MATCHES
For starters, you can expect a lot of exciting cricket. The brand of cricket might be slightly different from what we saw in the Pakistan leg of the tournament. Given the change in venue, it’s expected that spin bowling will be a potent weapon in Abu Dhabi. This means that the team currently at the bottom of the PSL points table, Quetta Gladiators, may have a chance to dominate in somewhat favourable conditions.
Multan Sultans, also currently on only 2 points, will similarly be hoping for a change in fortunes. Further up the standings, four teams – defending champions Karachi Kings, last year’s finalist Lahore Qalandars, former champions Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United – will be looking for the wins which will seal their qualification for the next round.
Given that these will be closely contested matches in a super charged atmosphere, it’s highly likely that PSL table will be tightly condensed come the season’s finale!
