All About Dubai Expo 2020 Mascots
The Expo’s mascots were unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in 2019.
Their premise is to represent the region’s long history of storytelling — with the conviction that great things can be done when everyone works together. The characters wear regional clothing and showcase the beauty of all that their culture has to offer. Rashid
Rashid is an inquisitive nine-year-old boy with a passion for saving and preserving the environment. He also likes to hear and share the region’s history through stories that have been passed down through generations. Give him a tent pitched in the middle of the desert and a clear sky where he can see millions of stars – Rashid will want for nothing more!
Latifa
Eight-year-old tech enthusiast Latifa proves that when it comes to innovations, age is just a number. Her passions involve inventions and exploring the world around her. Don’t try telling this little girl that something can’t be done, she’ll simply keep on trying till it is. Any trip with Latifa will be full of challenges that will be a delight to overcome.
Salama the Wise Ghaf Tree
All adventurers need someone to guide them, and for our dynamic duo, that guidance comes in the form of Salama the Wise Ghaf Tree. The ancient tree has stood the test of time, acted as a shelter for weary travellers and has recorded the history of the UAE since its beginnings. It is up to Rashid and Latifa to listen to Salama and complete the challenges she sets them so they can unlock all her secrets.
Alif
If you want to know where to go and how to get there, rely on Alif. As the hopeful leader of the Expo 2020 mascot robots, he knows how to get things done. This shape-shifting miracle, a guardian of the Mobility Pavilion, can take you anywhere you want to go in an instant.
Opti
Want to explore the core of the earth or travel through space and time? Then you need to become fast friends with Opti. This shy and demure robot will follow you wherever you wanna go via a hidden portal. Hope and opportunity are never far behind the guardian of the Opportunity Pavilion, so make sure you don’t lose track of him.
Terra
The sharpest and coolest of the robots, Terra, has the power to turn invisible. So you might not want to get on her bad side. But that doesn’t mean that Terra is cold; in fact, her love of nature and its beauty make her one of the warmest beings on the planet. Once you become friends, you’ll find that she’ll be your most loyal and fiercest confidant.

Meet the Mascots
Visitors to the exhibition are greeted every day by Rashid and Latifa, the official Expo 2020 mascots. Expect a warm welcome at each of the entry gates.

Interactive Experience
Your dream of flying over Al Wasl Dome might just come true with the help of Rashid and Latifa. Join them and discover the beautiful gardens of the plaza. After sunset, you can design your own avatars in the interactive booth and watch a virtual version of yourself launched onto Al Wasl canvas.

Mr. Scrap Returns
Rashid and Latifa need help and you’re the only one who can support them! Mr. Scrap has stolen Salama’s secrets and imprisoned our heroes in a digital realm. Now the delicate balance between man and machine is in jeopardy, threatening the beauty of our world. In this dramatic 20-minute performance, watch Rashid and Latifa confront Mr. Scrap amid musical theatrics — with a little help from the audience

Apart from the shows, you can also interact with one of the mascots in person, if you know where to look.
You will find Opti, one of the robotic Expo 2020 Dubai mascots, roaming through the Opportunity District. It is powered by AI of Things — with multi-touch screens, voice interaction capabilities, object mapping and identification that is driven by artificial intelligence. Opti will interact, guide and delight guests as they discover the wonders of the Expo 2020.
