How to apply for EV account & charging card management in Dubai
In recent years, the demand for electric cars has risen considerably in the UAE. With growing concerns regarding carbon emissions and the improvements in EV cars, this doesn’t come as a surprise. To facilitate electric car owners, DEWA started an initiative for EV account & charging card management in Dubai. Here is all you need to know from registration process to documentation, fees and more.
ABOUT EV ACCOUNT & CHARGING CARD MANAGEMENT
EV account & charging card management allows customers to make a new DEWA Electrical Vehicle account and issue an Electrical Vehicle Green Charger Card, place requests to replace a lost/damaged Electrical Vehicle Green Charger Card and deactivate DEWA Electrical Vehicle account.
This service is run in collaboration with the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).
HOW TO APPLY FOR EV ACCOUNT & CHARGING CARD MANAGEMENT IN DUBAI?
The first step is to register for the service.
If your car is registered in Dubai, the data is already with the RTA and no new registration is required. Whereas, if the car is registered in another emirate, you can create an account via the DEWA website or app by submitting the following documents:
- Individual car owner: Emirates ID number (or passport copy for GCC/ investors) and vehicle licence.
- Government/ Semi-government owned car: Vehicle licence
- Business-owned car: Company trade licence and vehicle licence
STEPS AND PROCEDURE FOR EV ACCOUNT & CHARGING CARD MANAGEMENT
After registration, follows these steps:
EV ACCOUNT OPENING
After registration, you have to open an EV account via the DEWA website or app.
- Go to EV account creation and complete the process.
- Get a notification via SMS or email.
- Green Charger card will be delivered to your address within 3 days.
REPLACEMENT EV CARD
- Log in and go to the Green Charged card replacement section and complete the process.
- Pay any outstanding dues.
- Get a notification via SMS or email.
- Green Charger card will be delivered to your address within 3 days.
DEACTIVATING EV ACCOUNT
Here is the process to deactivate the EV account.
- Log in and pay your outstanding amount, if any.
- Apply for deactivation of EV account.
- Receive notification number via email and SMS.
- Issuance of final bill.
- Payment of final bill amount (if any).
- Refund for the security deposit (if any).
SERVICE CHANNELS
Besides the official website and app, you can visit the RTA website or DEWA customer care centre – (IVR) 04-6019999, service available through voice response.
FEES FOR EV ACCOUNT & CHARGING CARD MANAGEMENT
The applicable fees are as follows:
SECURITY DEPOSIT
- Individual (non-commercial) and business (commercial): AED 500
- Government: Exempted from security deposit
DELIVERY CHARGES
- AED 20
CONSUMPTION FEES
- Government, individual (non-commercial) and business (commercial): AED 38 fils per kWh + fuel surcharge per kWh + VAT
*VAT will be levied
FOR EV CARD REPLACEMENT
- Replacement cost: AED 200
- Delivery charges: AED 20
Please note that there are no charges for deactivating your EV account.
