The EtihadWE was established under the Federal Decree Law No. (31) of 2020. As per the decree, it took over the duties and responsibilities of The Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA). It caters to the electricity and water needs of the citizens and residents of the Northern Emirates in the UAE.
This authority is tasked with balancing the cost of production and distribution, studying consumption behaviour and raising awareness about the waste of electricity and water.

How to apply for a new Etihad Water and Electricity connection
If you want to move to an apartment for rent in Ras Al Khaimah or a property in any of the Northern Emirates, one of the first tasks you’ll need to take care of is activating your electricity and water service. Fortunately, setting up a new EtihadWE (previously FEWA) connection is simple and affordable.
If you’ve ever wondered, ‘How do I activate EtihadWE online’, have a look at the steps below:
- Register your account on the official website.
- Under the ‘Services’ tab, select Customer in the ‘E-services’ section.
- Choose Service Activation.
- Log in with UAE Pass.
- Fill out the online application form and attach the required documents.
You will receive approval for your application within 24 hours, and your electricity and water will be activated within the next 24 hours.
ETIHADWE NEW CONNECTION FEE

Public connections will cost AED 8,000 per connection. Farms and rest houses will be charged an additional AED 30,000 per connection in addition to the connection fees mentioned in the aforementioned table.

- Tenancy contract, approved by the municipality (for tenants)
- Title or ownership deed (for owners)

Kiosks
You can pay your monthly bill through kiosk machines located throughout all the emirates in the UAE.

- The maximum payment you can make through a credit card is AED 20,000
- A maximum of five transactions are allowed in a day with a credit card
How to disconnect EtihadWE connection

- Visit the official Etihad Water and Electricity portal.
- After logging in, under the ‘Services’ tab, select Customer in the ‘E-services’ section.
- Use your UAE pass or registered ID to start the disconnection application.
- You may be required to apply for a Clearance Certificate as well.
Once you have applied for the clearance certificate, your electricity and water connection will be disconnected after 24 hours. The certificate will be issued within three days when you have cleared the outstanding amount.
The security deposit paid when applying for the connection will be refunded to your bank account. Alternatively, customers can collect their security deposit refund from Al Ansari Exchange in cash.
The process for EtihadWE disconnection is completely free through the online website. However, the disconnection process has a charge at customer care centres. Customers must bring their Emirates ID and will be charged AED 50 as a service fee.
