How to update your Emirates ID in the UAE
The Emirates ID is the proof of identity for UAE citizens and residents issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security. Whether you need to update personal details or correct misinformation, the procedure for amending the data on your Emirates ID is the same. Read on to learn more about the process of Emirates ID update.
REPORTING CHANGES FOR EMIRATES ID UPDATE
Emirates ID holders are required to report any changes in their personal information to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP) within one month before the exact date of the change.
Visit any Customer Happiness Centre or ICP branch to process the request. After successfully reporting the required updates, it’s time to look at the various types of information to update Emirates ID.
Emirates ID Information Update
The Emirates ID card consists of two data types: key and non-key. Basic information, including your name, date of birth and nationality, comes under the key data category. The variable information on your ID card, such as your address and occupation, is the non-key data.
Previously, if you wanted to amend any of the key information, you would have to visit the nearest branch office of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security or a Customer Happiness Centre. However, non-key information changes were possible using any e-service kiosks at the centre or online.
However, from August 2023, one can update certain Emirates ID details online even if it is in the key data category.
Visit the ICP data update service section for more information.
