STEP 1: REGISTER AND SUBMIT THE EMIRATES ID RENEWAL FORM
To start the Emirates ID renewal process, the first step is to gather all the required documents (listed below) and head to any of the following:
- Dubai Customer Happiness Centers
- Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship (ICP) service centres
- Typing Centers in Dubai
You can request Emirates ID renewal via ICP smart services or the website. However, you may still have to visit any of the service centres to provide biometrics.

Once you are at the centres, get the queue ticket and wait for your turn. You will have to fill out and submit the Emirates ID renewal form with your personal details. Those who fill out and submit the form online will receive an email or SMS confirmation.

RENEWING EMIRATES ID FOR EMIRATIS LIVING ABROAD
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has launched a new service that allows Emiratis living abroad to renew their Emirates ID online. Previously, applicants had to travel back to the UAE for a renewal but that is no longer required.
One can simply submit an application via the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security smart app. Applications can be submitted six months before the expiry of the card and the fee is AED 270.
If the application is filed after the expiry of the Emirates ID, a late fine of AED 20 per day will be imposed.
