All about the Emirates Golf Club
Home to some of the world’s top golf courses, Dubai is every passionate golfer’s dream. The lush green courses are nothing less than an oasis in the heart of the urban centre. But beyond the aesthetics, these golf courses also provide quite a challenge to professional and amateur golfers alike. Emirates Golf Club is one of the top golf courses in Dubai that hosts several popular golf tournaments, including the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.
ABOUT THE EMIRATES GOLF CLUB
Established in 1988, Emirates Golf Club was the first grass golf course in the region. The 36-hole golf course was developed by the American architect Karl Litten, while BSBG developed the clubhouse and other facilities. Emirati culture inspired the design of the golf course; hence, it resembles a cluster of Bedouin tents. Even after three decades, it remains an iconic destination in the world of golf.
Emirates Golf Club also opened new doors for sports venues in the rapidly developing emirate. Not to mention, it brought the global spotlight on Dubai as a premier place for sport and leisure.
More than two decades after its opening, the clubhouse was redeveloped in 2010. BSGB was once again involved in the redesign and overseeing the entire renovation process. As part of the new design, glass was placed in the lobby of the clubhouse for unobstructed views of the golf course.
Today, Emirates Golf Club is one of the most popular golf courses in Dubai. Besides the main golfing facilities, the clubhouse is a place where one can enjoy other activities. Aside from housing four popular restaurants, it also has facilities for swimming, tennis, padel tennis and squash, along with a Pro Shop.
The club is managed by Dubai Golf, which also operates Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club and Jumeirah Golf Estates.
GOLF COURSES
Emirates Golf Club boasts three golf courses; each course offers a different experience and challenge to golfers.
PAR 3 ACADEMY COURSE
This 18-hole course is one of the most well-maintained golf courses in the city. Covering an area of 1,239 yards, the course is Par 72, offering a challenging game for experienced and amateur golfers alike.
To book a single-player tee time at this course, the fee begins at AED 100. Please note that the charges can vary depending on the dates and amenities selected by the player.
THE FALDO
Launched in 1996, this 18-hole course was initially known as “the Wadi.” Nine years later, it was extensively redesigned and renamed after the renowned golfer, Nick Faldo. The covered area of the course is 7,348 yards and is significantly larger than the Par 3 Academy Course. Notably, this was the first golf course in Dubai that used LED light technology for floodlights.
It costs AED 440 to book a single-player tee time at the Faldo. The charges can differ depending on the dates and amenities selected by the player.
THE MAJLIS
The Majlis is perhaps the most iconic golfing facility in the country. It has hosted several famous tournaments and fans have witnessed many legendary golfers in action at this 72-par course. Designed by Florida-based architect, Karl Litten, the Majlis is a highly challenging course.
To book a single-played tee time at the Majlis, expect to pay AED 740. These prices can change depending on the dates and amenities selected by the player.
