Emirates Driving Institute’s driving courses are divided into two sections: theory and practical. Before starting your practical training, you must attend a series of theory lectures and pass the RTA Knowledge Test. You can then start driving lessons with one of EDI’s qualified instructors.

Also, you must complete several hours of practical training before attempting the RTA road test. This can differ based on your prior driving experience and the type of vehicle you are learning to drive. Theory Classes at EDI

You will typically have to attend eight driving lectures before starting practical training, which can vary depending on the vehicle and your prior experience. Emirates Driving Institute theory classes are available both in-person and online.

The in-person theory classes are available at EDI’s Port Rashid, Al Quoz and Al Qusais centres on weekdays and weekends. The Emirates Driving Institute theory class schedule is on their official website.

Light Motor Vehicle Course and Fees

Emirates Driving School offers courses for those looking to drive a light motor vehicle to accommodate different schedules and preferences.

Regular Driving Course

EDI’s Regular Driving Course includes free theory lectures, RTA fees and the first attempt at the theory, parking, assessment and road tests. It also has a discount of four free training hours for beginners, three hours for valid licence holders (2 to 5 years) and two hours for valid licence holders (above 5 years).

Remember that this regular Emirates Driving Institute course does not include 5% VAT and the eye test. Please note that the rates below are for those who pay for the full course upfront.

EMIRATES DRIVING INSTITUTE FEES FOR VALID LICENCE HOLDERS BETWEEN 2 TO 5 YEARS

These are the EDI Driving School fees for applicants who had a valid driver’s licence from another country for the last two to five years. They will need to complete 15 hours of training.

  • Along with the other benefits of the regular driving course, the Emirates Driving Institute fixed price courses include a 10% discount on registration, eye test and unlimited training and tests until you pass.
• Gold Driving Course:
  • This EDI course is all about flexibility and comfort. Students will have a dedicated liaison manager and complete flexibility in booking theory lectures, practical training and tests.
• Platinum Driving Course:
  • Applicants will learn to drive luxury cars such as BMW, Mini Cooper, Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Sport, Mercedes G500, Mercedes C200, TESLA, Lexus IS350 and Nissan Patrol.
  • The fee for 20 hours is around AED 27k. For 15 hours, it is AED 23k and for 10 hours, you must pay AED 18k.
• Affordable Driving Course:
  • This course is for a selected group of low-income professionals.
  • There is a 25% discount on the driving course fee, free theory lectures, simulator and solo training.
• Youth Driving Course:
  • This is a special course by Emirates Driving School Dubai for university students aged 17 years and 6 months.
  • It includes unlimited tests and training, flexible bookings, e-lectures and payment plans with instalments.

Motorcycle Riding Course

The Emirates Driving Institute motorcycle course enables students who pass the RTA test to ride an automatic or manual transmission motorcycle.

These are the regular course prices for beginners who have not held a motorcycle licence previously. They will need to complete 20 hours of practical training.

HEAVY TRUCK DRIVING LICENCE FEE

Those interested in obtaining licence to drive a truck, trailer or a tractor have to a pay a fee of AED 4,955 for regular training and for Friday training, the fee goes up to AED 5,375. The course includes:

• 4 free training hours
• Free lectures
• First attempt at the theory test in addition to RTA fees

HEAVY BUS DRIVING LICENCE FEE

Only people aged 21 or above are eligible for the heavy bus licence course. The regular fee is AED 4,645 whereas, fee for Friday training is AED 4,935.

LIGHT BUS DRIVING LICENCE FEE

The regular training cost for light bus course is AED 4,965 and for Friday training it is AED 5,245.

LIGHT FORKLIFT DRIVING LICENCE FEE

To be eligible for this course one needs to be at least 20-years old. Regular training charges are AED 3,960. If you wish to opt for Friday training the fee is AED 4,100.

HEAVY FORKLIFT DRIVING LICENCE FEE

The complete heavy forklift regular training cost is AED 4,800. For Friday training, it will cost you AED 4,940.

Emirates Driving Institute Registration Process

You can register for driving courses at EDI at any of their branches or centres in Dubai, or you can choose to register online on their official website.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Here is the process for online registration.

• Go to the EDI registration page
• Click on register here
• Enter contact information, visa type and contract type on the registration form.
• Next, you need to pay the fee. A minimum advance fee of AED 600 is required.

Once you have successfully registered and paid full or partial course, you can visit the Port Rashid, Al Quoz or Al Qusais centre for the eye test. Alternatively, you can complete the eye test at any of the RTA-approved optical centres in Dubai.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION

You can visit any EDI branch with the relevant documents including valid passport and visa copies, two passport size images and eye test (if conducted earlier from an RTA approved facility).

After this, you can begin your theory and practical classes at the driving institute.
