Public transport made easy – All about the E-Saqr Card in RAK
Improving the public transportation infrastructure and making its processes user-friendly has been a major tenant of Ras Al Khaimah government policy. Their latest initiative, the E-Saqr Card RAK, allows passengers to pay via a card instead of having to use single-trip tickets. Here’s all you need to know about the service.
E-SAQR CARD RAK
E-Saqr card – RAK Transport Authority has been launched in three categories – blue, silver and gold. This service can only be used for inter-city travelling and you cannot use this card on the inter-emirate bus.
The usage of the card is fairly simple. One can scan the card on the payment machines installed on the bus, upon entry and scan it when getting off. The requisite amount will be charged from your account.
COST OF THE E-SAQR CARD – RAK TRANSPORT AUTHORITY
Here’s a look at the cost of the E-Saqr Card RAK:
- A Blue Card will cost AED 30 of which AED 20 can be used as a balance.
- Silver Card is specifically for students, senior citizens and residents over the age of 60. The cost of the silver card is AED 20 with AED 10 as balance. Senior citizens, students and residents get a 50 percent discount.
- Gold Card is for People of Determination, the card is free of cost but you will fill the card with balance to pay for the trip.
WHERE TO BUY THE E-SAQR CARD RAK?
One can buy it from the Al Hamra Bus Station. Moreover, the Blue Card can also be bought directly from the bus driver. However, for the Gold or Silver Card, you would have to head to Al Hamra Bus Station in Al Dhait. You can add balance on the card at the station too.
