Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ‘Dubai Schools Project’ involves the launch of two new affordable schools in Mirdif and Al Barsha. Opening in the academic year of 2021-22, these facilities will cater to Early Years education.

According to H.H. Sheikh Hamdan, the chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, these new schools will provide quality education at reasonable costs. The ultimate goal is to offer excellent teaching and help students develop a spirit of collaboration and a thirst for knowledge. Similarly, the focus is to nurture talented young learners, so they become innovative, familiar with the national values and scientifically inquisitive. Amongst it’s many worthy aspirations, this Emirati schooling system will prepare students for the challenges of the future, whilst also developing their religious and national identities.
Taaleem Company and the Dubai Government signed the agreement to operate these schools. This public-private initiative will improve the schooling options available to Emiratis living in Dubai. Besides the core subjects of English, Maths, Science, exploratory options like music, art, computers and drama will be taught in rotation throughout the academic year.
Classes for the Dubai School Project will start from August 2021.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum outlined the vision and plans for the Dubai Schools Project in detail on the occasion of the agreement signing between Taaleem Company and the Dubai Government.
“H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision for education aims to provide quality education and raise national competencies to support the UAE’s sustainable development journey. His Highness’s lofty vision is focused on providing the specialised education that can develop students’ skills in alignment with the nation’s future aspirations. Today, we launched Dubai Schools, a new school model that will enrich Dubai’s educational system by providing schooling that can develop individuals that are nationally rooted and globally competent,” said H.H. Sheikh Hamdan.
“The new initiative, which integrates a global curriculum, will contribute in developing the educational and life skills of students with a focus on Emiratis values and the Arabic language. The new model is designed to prepare students to lead and innovate and make valuable contributions to building the nation’s future. Amidst the rapid changes we are seeing in the world, we have a responsibility to equip our students with new skills and knowledge that will help them pursue excellence and success in the future. The Dubai Schools initiative represents a new phase in our long-term education plan created to support the sustainability of our development journey,” he added.

WHERE WILL THE SCHOOLS BE LOCATED?
As mentioned, the first two schools will be located in Mirdif and Al Barsha. American School of Creative Science, located in Al Barsha, will be refurbished. While in Mirdif, the Ontario International Canadian School will be converted.
The Mirdif branch will have a capacity of 1,000 students, whereas, the Al Barsha branch will enrol up to 1,200 students. Further on campus expansion will take place as and when required.
WHAT YEARS WILL THE SCHOOLS OFFER?
The first two schools will have classes from Pre-school to Grade 4. As students graduate higher grades will be added. Primary school students will be following an inquiry-based learning method while, once they graduate to middle school, they will be empowered to decide their method of study.
Boys and girls will study together till the 4th grade, after which separate classes will be held.
WHAT CURRICULUM WILL THE SCHOOLS FOLLOW?
The schools will offer education based on the American curriculum the standard for which has been set by the New York State Education Department in the US.
WHAT WILL BE THE LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION?
English will be the primary language of instruction. However, there will be a keen focus on fostering Emirati and Islamic values. For Arabic, UAE social studies, Islamic and moral education, the Ministry of Education standards will be followed.
WHAT IS THE FEE STRUCTURE FOR EACH LEVEL?
The fee for kindergarten students will be AED 29,900 and it will rise to AED 36,155 for fourth graders. This shall include school uniform and transport expenses.

Yes, up to 100% fee scholarships will be offered to Emirati students based on merit.
