ALL ABOUT THE DUBAI COUNTRYSIDE AND RURAL AREAS DEVELOPMENT MASTER PLAN
Part of Dubai 2040, the extensive Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Development Master Plan was approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
Covering almost 2,216 sq. km. of land, the project aims to preserve nature in areas such as Al Aweer, Margham, Lehbab, Al Marmoom, Al Lisaili and Al Faqaa. Another objective is to provide residents with facilities and offer an attractive touristic experience.
Archaeological sites and natural reserves will be protected as a key part of the plan. Furthermore, the focus will be on supporting farmers and promoting local products in ways that attract investment opportunities. Each district will have its own identity, and farmers will be offered opportunities to sell their crops in various markets.
Similarly, there will be a focus on improving public facilities and services, including public parks and traffic mobility. A sustainable transport network will also be developed to operate bus trips from major stations to these rural areas in addition to designated cycle and scooter zones.
The Dubai Countryside and Rural Areas Plan will be a comprehensive plan for the next two decades. The Dubai Urban Plan 2040 is a similar plan for the emirate’s urban areas.
