STEP 1: ONLINE APPLICATION SUBMISSION
- To set up a new DEWA account you can visit the official DEWA website, navigate to the section for Activation of Electricity and Water (Move-in).
- You might be required to use a login for all online requests for DEWA new connection.
- New customers for the DEWA move in request Dubai can choose the appropriate option from the Customer Type dropdown menu. The options on the menu include Expatriate, GCC National, Investor and UAE National.
- In the next field, select the Account Type. This tab has two options for owners and tenants.
- If you’re a tenant, you must include the premises’ Ejari number.
- Please note that some commercial Free Zones in Dubai are exempt from Ejari so, click on I don’t have Ejari if you are in a Free Zone area.
- Tenants outside the Free Zone areas are required to complete the Ejari registration. Once completed, you will receive an email and SMS from DEWA with your Contract Account Number and the amount for the security deposit to be paid.
- If you reside in a Free Zone, you must provide other information, including the Tenancy Contract Number, Contract Start Date, Contract End Date, Contract Value, number of rooms and premises numbers.
- Include the DEWA premise number.
- Once you have provided all the required information, click on Continue and follow the steps to complete your new Move-in DEWA account.
STEP 2: SUBMIT THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
These are the documents required to apply for a new DEWA account in Dubai.
- Homeowners in Dubai are required to present a valid Title Deed
- Emirates ID of Dubai residents
- Trade Licence (for commercial and industrial customers)
- Passport copy for GCC Nationals or Investors
STEP 3: PAY THE FEES AND OTHER SERVICE CHARGES
To complete the registration process, customers need to pay the new DEWA account activation fees in Dubai. These charges include:
SECURITY DEPOSIT
- A security deposit of AED 2,000 for an apartment in Dubai (residential premises)
- A security deposit of AED 4,000 for a villa in Dubai (residential premises)
ACTIVATION CHARGES
- AED 100 for connecting electricity and water (small metres)
- AED 300 for connecting Electricity and water meters (large metres)
- AED 10 for registration
- AED 10 for knowledge fee

- Settle any outstanding dues for your current residence.
- The security deposit already paid on your existing home will be transferred to your new address.

You can also deactivate your DEWA account if you wish to leave your home. If you are moving out of your home, you can follow these steps to terminate or deactivate your DEWA account in Dubai.

- Use your DEWA User ID or the UAE pass to log in.
- Select the 10-Digit DEWA Contract Account number for which the request is to be made.
- Pay your outstanding bill amount (if any).
- Select your move out date as the electricity and water connection will be deactivated on the date you mention and the staff will arrive to take your final readings.
- In the next step, choose the method of security deposit refund. Customers can opt for a bank transfer, cheque or get the amount through Western Union.
- Then you will need to submit your application.
- The final bill will be processed within 24 hours, and the customer will receive the final bill on their registered email ID.

- Enter your 10-digit DEWA Contract Account number and 9-digit DEWA premise number.
- A one-time-password (OTP) will be sent to your registered email or registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP in the field provided.

- Select your move out date as the electricity and water connection will be deactivated on the date you mention and staff will arrive to take your final readings.
