In a bid to improve the clinical infrastructure of Abu Dhabi, DoH rolls out multiple initiatives and programs. The most popular ones include:
Family and School Health Program
This program takes place in partnership with parents, teachers, schools and the healthcare sector. It aims to improve the health of children and youngsters by facilitating schools with appropriate clinical services.
Chronic Respiratory Diseases Awareness Program
Through this program, the Abu Dhabi Department of Health raises awareness about the early detection and management of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) at both individual and community level.
Weqaya Program
Weqaya comes from the Arabic word which means ‘prevention’. It is a healthcare program launched by the Department of Health Abu Dhabi to increase awareness about the diseases and educates people of the preventative measures that can control the spread of these diseases. It is mostly known for offering screening services.
Weqaya also has an online tool that caters to all those programs that fall under the umbrella of the Weqaya Program such as screening services, tobacco control and disease management programs. Many top hospitals in Abu Dhabi are participating in the Weqaya Screening Program such as NMC Specialty Hospital, Burjeel Hospital and Oxford Medical Center.
Abu Dhabi Smiles: Oral Health Program
Launched after a WHO Global School Health Survey in 2010, this program plays an important role in disseminating knowledge about the common oral health issues, healthy practices and steps to protect teeth.
Abu Dhabi Healthcare Innovation Program – TIP
Launched in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) and other important bodies of the healthcare sector, TIP is a research program in the emirate. It aims to encourage innovation in the field of health sciences.
Malaffi
Malaffi or Malafi is an Arabic word for ‘my file’. Developed in partnership between Injazat Data Systems and DOH, Malaffi is a robust and secure system that ensures the exchange of information between healthcare providers and government authorities. From consultation to laboratory tests, every single information about the patient is stored in the system so it can be provided when needed.
The AI Lab
Recognising the benefits that AI can offer for healthcare, the Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi launched the AI lab to develop holistic clinical solutions. The lab will create innovative ideas using emerging technologies such as predictive analytics and the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) among others.
Shafafiya portal
This portal consists of the key rules and regulations required to facilitate the exchange of patients’ data between healthcare professionals and official authorities according to the standard manual.
Department of Health – Abu Dhabi App
The Department of Health Abu Dhabi also has an app where you can find the details of doctors, hospitals, medicines and health insurance. You can even verify sick leaves, subscribe to e-publications, book screening appointments and view your child’s vaccination record.
