Department of Economic Development (DED UAQ) was formed in January 1995 the under the Emiri Decree No. (1). Initially, it was named “Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain.” However, in 2009, the name was changed to “Department of Economic Development” as per the directive of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, The chief aim of the department was to meet the challenges in the economic sector and push ahead with UAQ’s economic agenda.
